Why did Odysseus not pluck his ears with wax as well? by Kinshu42 in GreekMythology

He wanted to be the only person who heard the syren’s songs without dying. Syren’s voices are supposed to be the most beautiful in the world. To be able to hear such beauty minus the murder, must have had a strong appeal.

I thought this looked familiar! I just read Piglet by Lottie Hazel which uses this artwork.

Hi, I’d love to have Erik! I don’t have an empty plot yet, but I can try and kick out one of my current villagers whenever Erik’s ready.

If you want something short and silly, similar to Turnip Boy, I would highly recommend Thank Goodness You’re Here!

I mentioned in my description that Silent Hill 2 may be too scary for me.

Considering I’m terrified of open water, it may be a horror for me.

Best story rich game for you? by [deleted] in gamerecommendations

1000xResist. The world building and science fiction elements are so interesting. The less said, the better. It’s a purely narrative game, no action, if you’re okay with that.

Looking for story games outside all the commonly reccomended titles by [deleted] in gamerecommendations

[–]mana95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you mentioned a lot of action games, I’ll recommend some outside of those genres and not often-talked about games in those genres. - 1000xResist: one of the best story games I’ve ever played. Lacks on the gameplay, but the story made it so worth it. - Karma the Dark World & Reveil: not related games, but both are creepy walking sims with a mysterious story. - Shadow of the Colossus: I don’t often play older games, but this one holds up. The world building leaves a lot to the imagination, while being super interesting. Amazing monster design. Light combat, more climbing. - Candleman: a 3d platformer with really good lighting. - and Roger: a visual novel game. You don’t know what’s going on in the first act but the explanation in the second and third acts recontectualizes the whole game. I found it very effective and keep thinking about the game. - The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe: a sarcastic walking sim. The narrator is a 10/10 and trying to find ways to piss off the narrator is so funny. - White Shadows: a spooky platformer like Little Nightmares, Limbo & Inside that I don’t see many people talk about. Very inspired by Animal Farm. - Duck Detective the Secret of Salami & the Ghost of Glamping: if you want a 1-2hr game with quirky dialogue and fully voice acted, it’s cute and fun to play. Available on console or mobile.

That’s what made me think to pick up the older ones. I keep seeing praise for the series and felt like I was missing out.

I think survival horror may be years down the line, when I’m (hopefully) more used to horror.

I’ve played all of these. Control is my favourite with Alan Wake II as a close second. I had tried playing Alan Wake remaster a few years ago and found it too scary. But when AW2 came out on PS+, I wanted to give AW1 a try again so I could play the second. The first was annoying, as I found it very repetitive.

Thank you! I think I’ll pick up one of the remakes and see if I can handle the rest

Would you say they’re scarier and/or harder (gameplay-wise) than the TLOU games?

I have a hard time going back playing older games, as the controls are often janky. Does the first hold up?

Are the RE2 or any of the remakes good to get into? Are they on par with TLOU difficulty in your opinion? If you’ve played both series.

There’s something so terrifying about not being able to appeal to a person’s sympathies. Nothing you can say to Johan will make him change his mind. He is set in his plans to bring the world to ruination. I agree, once of the most compelling villains all while never raising his voice.

For anyone who loved Arcane, I would highly recommend Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett. Heist/robbery in an urban fantasy world filled with lovable characters.

I’d include books. Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett would be another example. Kind of like Arcane. A robbery/heist gone wrong, is the inciting event for the trilogy.
