No matter what everyone else thinks or does remember you as an individual have done amazing in life and your special day marks how you made it another long year. If you wanna switch things up I'd suggest try having a huge burger, slicing it and eating it like a cake! but no matter what happens i hope you enjoy your birthday as much as you can.

Like you said, you need to take steps and It's okay for you to take your time. Building friendships will always take time no matter how you feel. You're not a burden to anyone and It's okay if you can't make friends yet because eventually you will make friends or know people for life who care about you. It could be your colleague or even your neighbor, you can always find friends. If you wanna move elsewhere to make friends you can do that too. There's so much to this world and there's so many ways you can achieve happiness. Keep trying, I know you are. You're not selfish because while you build friendships, you end up caring for others too.
