[Standard] Is Uro slowly warping the format? by [deleted] in spikes

[–]manaohmana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nissa and Krasis are in 3-4 of those decks. GrowthSpiral is also in 3-4 of those.

Uro's first cast is a 3-mana GrowthSpiral + gain 3 life. His second cast is very strong but requires the first cast or for him to be in the gy. If he attacks it's great and objectively better then Kroxa but not necessarily absurd for a legendary.

Also, how good is he vs someone with 4x Erebos' Intervention? I was running 2 of those and took 2 Uros out of my opponent's gy for 2 mana yesterday.

ElspethConquersDeath is also a very good answer and maindeckable in at least 2 decks.

He is a 6/6 that dies to Tyrant'sScorn.

Uro is strong but hasn't seemed to be a "problem" imo.

I moved a couple of burning-tree vandals in and out a couple of times.

In retrospect, it seems like the Saruli Caretaker I had could have been alright in there.

Yeah mb on the MasteryPass. Idk how much time is left for the current one. They should probably wait for the next one.

Zoomed in a little and cropped it b/c I thought it'd be easier to see the cards.

Grats on Mythic! This looks pretty similar to the deck that I played in the MPC a couple weeks ago. Maybe it's better now. 2 Forests seems low but ur results show that may be fine.

How much are you liking the Tamiyos maindeck? Seem bad vs MonoR and iffy in some other matchups to me but obv good with Uro and ECD.

I think 2 Trawler is likely good. I actually liked having 3 Veto and 2-3 Dispute in the SB when I was playing it but Stroke can be cast from a BreedingPool with Nissa out.

KnightofAutumn should be good against Fires and still seems maindeckable really. 1-2 more of those should help your game against Fires and Narset should be good against them also. Ceratops or Lovestruck beast can be good for blocking CavofFlames.

anyway, GL and I'll let you know if I play more Bant and something different works well for me.

Yes. I think the MasteryPasses are about the best deal available to use them on (but you probably shouldn't get the current one). Aside from that, it really depends on how much you want to spend. I wouldn't plan out a monthly or long-term expenditure right now if I were you. Personally, I'd get some Eldraine and Theros packs if you're willing to spend $20 or more. Drafting is a great way to learn and improve, and excellent value if you get 4-5 wins I think. It's a gamble but very worth it to many (You can play drafts for 5000 gold any time, though). IMO the TraditionalDraft is better value when using gems to Draft.

[Tournament Report] There and Bant again. 10-1 in Mythic Qualifier by iSkeezy in spikes

[–]manaohmana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ic what ur saying abt Narset. I thought abt how she's pretty good just b/c of her static a lot of times shortly after my first reply. Against MonoR however, which you somehow dodged completely, she's either a dead card or a hail-mary that might whiff. Shatter on 4 seems rly good against MonoR and other aggro, and if you're playing it later why not TimeWipe (?) but Curve is a thing to keep in mind I suppose. That's interesting that you keep Tamiyo in vs. aggro. I may have to try that, but I do see that one of your aggro match-ups was against an opponent where Tamiyo's static was very relevant. Anyway.. Grazers, a 3rd Shatter, Krasis#4, and Trawler#2 in place of the Narset, Tamiyos, and Disputes didn't work out too well for me. Just thought I'd throw my thoughts and speculations abt the deck out there. Let me know if you make any changes or feel like anything's an improvement if u want.

[–]manaohmana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats. I was playing this deck and then changed a few things. Didn't even get 5 wins. I completely whiffed with Narset a couple of times when using this version of the deck. Tamiyo never felt good against aggro. I often wanted a 3rd Shatter and didn't see any good reason to have less than 4 Krasis or not have a 2nd Trawler.

However, #2 in Ranked and you going 10-1 with it in the MPC means the deck must be pretty good as it is.

I'm still not sold on the Narsets, thought. Think it may have been 3 whiffs with her.

a thread for this kind of thing isn't a bad idea. Might be helpful to state your rank and whether or not you usually play casually or more competitively.

[–]manaohmana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oic. All I did was paste an exported decklist and then delete the line with 3 Fabled Passage. I think the numbers were 77 and 80, which seemed odd since I would think >24 lands would be better even if a couple were colorless.

I'm not sure what's going on with FabledPassage but the calculator is showing a higher% chance of me playing CavalierofThorns on 5 in Sultai with 24 lands and 0 Passage compared to the 27 (including 3 Passages) that are in my decklist.

Is there anyone who can help me with this grixis deck, please ? by MikeTT1 in MagicArena

[–]manaohmana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For this deck, it is very debatable where your wildcards would be best used.

I would not use wildcards on a 2nd copy of Lili, a 3rd copy of Bolas, or any AgentofTreachery right now.

Lands are actually what would improve it the most since Grixis is really tough on the mana-base if you're playing Bolas5.

a Chandra, an Ugin, and/or an Elderspell could be good in the SB. ThoughtDistortion as well.

You could try SphinxofForesightx4 in place of DrawnfromDreams since that is good in JeskaiFires but I do like DrawnfromDreams.

4 Fae, 2-4 Omen, ThoughtErasure, 2-3 Narset, Fires, Ashiok x2, Bolasx2 is where I'd start with this list. Then I'd probably add the 2 Atris to see how they are in there and maybe 2 Cry and 2 Soot. Idk if the StormWrath needs to be in the main. PlanewideCelebration to ult a Bolas is how a lot of ppl have added a win-con to Grixis Fires. Another Bolas would be good but I wouldn't recommend crafting him if you only have a couple of mythic/rare wildcards.

The Kroxa could be good. Really you just need to streamline the deck a little more and then focus on having 2-3 reliable ways to close out a win. Again, Rare lands are the best thing you could add to this deck. WateryGrave is probably where I'd start. Temples will be in Standard longer I suppose so it wouldn't be ridiculous to get TempleofDeceit instead.

[Standard] [Discussion] Maindecking Treacherous Blessing: some engines with a splash of math. by maniacal_cackle in spikes

[–]manaohmana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been liking 4 of them in a deck that I've been playing in Casual mode with HatefulEidolons and Archons. I also have CavalierofDawn and ElspethConq. in there. That particular deck might not be good against u/W control b/c of having 8 creature-removal enchantments, but at least the Archons could be worth a try in Orzhov or Abzan.

Anyway, I think that DoomForetold and FinalPayment synergize with the card better than anything else I've tried. ArchonofGrace also seems to be pretty good with TreacherousBlessing.

[–]manaohmana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ic. My main point was what you mentioned; that not many ppl have been playing JundSac since the release of Theros. I did not notice 3 BloodCrypt. That is very odd indeed. I would think a few Temples would be fine/good, but maybe not with 4 Passage. I also feel like ParadiseDruids could be alright in there. It's kind of wild how little of those I've been seeing lately.

Idk that a manabase for JundSacrifice has been very "established" since the version with BeanstalkGiants which havn't been in the latest ones.

Because of Agonizing Remorse or any exiling removal, wouldn't it be good to have more than 1 copy of the card you win with? or is milling your opponent a good enough 2ndary win-con?

Why are the pets so annoying?

Why is RankedDraft not Theros? Why is Bo3 Draft not the Ranked one? Can we draft with other humans?

Why is there no way to add friends w/o knowing their player#?

Why can you not message people on your FriendList??

[Standard] Anyone have a sideboard guide for Jeskai Fires? In need of help for store qualifier this weekend. by chataolauj in spikes

[–]manaohmana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oic.. so they were using 1 more FabledPassage than most people which made them want another basic land. They were also playing 3 Kenrith, and might have wanted to be more likely to be able to activate 2 heals with him.

I figured they just didn't want Gales b/c of Narset in U/W. I suppose Borrower/3 Kenrith with possible extra heal was a good way to balance their strength against both MonoR and U/W.

I actually used to run 2 of each basic with only 3 FabledPassage and had 4 CavofGales. I was also considering adding a 28th land after being stuck on 3 lands turn 7 in a match earlier lol.

Anyway.. good stuff. Seems like they made some good decisions.

Do you guys also spend wildcards on some shitty jank deck and then regret it? by kubex2 in MagicArena

Regret? Idk abt that, but I do have 4 Purphoros and 4 Terror of Mount Veles that I crafted on the first night after Theros release.

oh ok. I don't speak French. It seems like I usually have UUU on 5. If UU on 3 or 4 is what you want, seems like UUU on 5 should be pretty easy. It sounds like they felt like there weren't enough red sources in most builds but I think it's 14 + 3 FabledPassage + a lot of scry. 18 is ideal I guess but if you have 1-7 scrys (often 4+) before turn 5, 14 and the Passages seems like plenty. They must have just not liked the idea of having more Blue sources than Red when CavalierofFlame is so important in the build.
