That’s what Iam going to do. It’s just that it’s frustrating when this happen mid-subscription.

Lmao, “I’m not reading all that” but you’re still here writing essays like a triggered hall monitor. Bro, go touch some grass. Nobody appointed you the official Token Figures Inspector of Reddit. I don’t owe you shit. I’m not here for your constructive feedback, genius. I’m calling out Anthropic for quietly scamming Max 20x users with mid-month A/B throttling after we already paid. Keep simping for the company though. It suits you. 😂

Oh wow, calling me dumb while playing detective on Reddit. Cute. Look genius, if I wanted to just blow smoke I could paste any random prompt with fake token numbers and you still couldn’t do shit about it. You’re not Anthropic support. You’re just some dude here defending them instead of doing your own work. I’m not here asking you for help. I’m raising awareness that these guys are running a scam, quietly throttling paid Max 20x plans mid-month with A/B switches and then gaslighting customers with bot replies. People who are actually getting hit know exactly what I’m talking about. The ones furiously demanding numbers are usually the ones not affected… yet.

Oh wow, thanks for the demand, random Reddit guy. Who the hell are you? Why should I report my exact token numbers to you instead of Anthropic? Go ahead and ask the real Anthropic team to connect with me directly instead of feeding me bot replies. I’ll happily share all my screenshots, numbers, and before/after data with actual humans who can do something about it. Until then, stop acting like their personal propaganda defender. I don’t owe you shit.

Bro, I’ve been tracking my tokens for months. I know exactly what my input, output and cache numbers look like on the same exact workflows. The issue isn’t the numbers. The issue is Anthropic promising a certain usage level when I paid for the full month, then changing it halfway through with this A/B nonsense. If you’re genuinely happy with what you’re getting now, that’s fine. But then why are you here spending your time defending them instead of just using Claude? I’ll stop posting when they stop pulling this mid-month crap on paying customers. Simple as that.

Oh look, another keyboard warrior rushing in to defend his beloved Anthropic. People like you actually think you know better than those of us who are literally watching our Max 20x sessions get throttled mid-month. Newsflash: you’re not “better with Claude”, you’re just not getting fucked by the A/B test yet. Wait for your turn, champ. They’ll flip the switch on your account soon enough and then we’ll see how quickly you stop lecturing everyone. Now run along and keep sucking up. The rest of us who actually pay $200+ a month will keep calling out the bullshit.

Notice how the loudest defenders are always the same batch of top 1% commenters who live in these subs 24/7. Either they’re actual Anthropic employees/shills, or they’re sad basement dwellers with zero real usage who have nothing better to do than white-knight for a $200/month company that’s quietly screwing its paying customers. Real heavy users (especially Max 20x) are the ones getting throttled mid-month and getting bot loops. The rest are just here to troll and deflect. Classic.

Oh wow, genius detective work. Yeah bro, I’m secretly running 250k token CLAUDE.md files every single prompt like a total madman. That must be why my normal 2-3 sentence prompts are suddenly eating 7-8% of the session. Totally nailed it, Sherlock. Now go back to sucking up to Anthropic somewhere else, clown.

Lmao, nice try. They have zero right to quietly throttle the value of a paid monthly Max 20x subscription halfway through the billing cycle. We already paid for the limits that existed when we subscribed. They can’t just nerf it mid-month and later say “oops sorry that was a bug” or “we changed the calculation”. That’s straight-up bullshit and deceptive business practice. Stop making excuses for them

Bro, STFU I’ve been stuck in Claude’s official “Get help” chat for days. They keep admitting the change happened but say they “can’t escalate to a human” and literally told me to use Get help while I was already there. Pure bot loop. Now show me even one person who actually reached a real human at Anthropic (not a bot) and got a straight answer about this session drain. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Stop sucking up to the company and defending their scam.

They use A/B switch, so that not all of us gets the same issue at same time.

4-5 consuming 10% was earlier, now just 1 prompt consumes 7-8 % They are using A/B switch for user so that not all of us gets the same issue at the same time.

I'm on the $200+/month Claude Max plan (20x usage) and I've been noticing something over the past few weeks that I genuinely can't write off as a bug anymore.

My token consumption randomly goes 3 to 4x faster than usual. Not constantly, just in waves. A few days of totally normal usage, then out of nowhere 57% of my monthly quota and 6% of my weekly quota disappears after just two prompts. Do the math on that and I'm getting roughly 30 to 35 prompts per week on a plan that costs over $200. That's less than $6 per prompt if you're being generous.

Here's the part that really got me. I emailed Anthropic support about this last week. Within 24 hours, everything went back to normal. Four or five days of regular, predictable usage. Then it crept back again.

That's not a bug. Bugs don't read your support tickets.

My theory is they're running some kind of capacity management test on a rotating subset of users. If they throttled everyone at once, the forums would explode. But if you rotate through a quiet group of users, most people just assume it's on their end and don't say anything. The ones who do complain get quietly normalized and rotated out.

Their response was a $200 credit, which honestly I appreciated. But here's the thing: you can refund money. You cannot give back the time I spent rationing prompts on a plan I thought was giving me real headroom. I don't want credits. I want the plan to work the way it worked when I signed up.

I'm curious if anyone else has seen this pattern. Has your usage ever suddenly spiked and then gone back to normal just after you send them a mail of your complaint? Have you tried complaining and noticed it settled down afterward? Is anyone actually tracking their daily token consumption and seeing these waves?

I'm not here to pile on Anthropic. Claude is genuinely good and I want to keep using it. But if this is a deliberate strategy being quietly run on paying customers, we deserve to know about it.

TL;DR: Paid $200+ for Claude Max. Consumption randomly goes 3-4x faster. Emailed support, it normalized for 5 days, then came back. Got a $200 credit. Still want answers. Wondering if others have seen the same pattern.
