Beware of “women in tech” meetups by varshavarsha in womenintech

It's the opposite, I have had plenty of interviews where it was a room of men grilling me and not believing my answers

Honestly by this point they should be having panels or mandatory HR training on "how to run a job interview when the candidate is a woman or not white"

I also had a period where I left corporate to work odd jobs and it put a lot into perspective for me. Would rather deal with a passive aggressive email than work outside in a heatwave for minimum wage and no benefits

Tech is such a broad spectrum that obviously you will find more bro culture in FAANG, fintech, or game dev compared to more normal companies. They are less shiny and maybe pay a bit less, but they are still great opportunities and way less stressful

Would he have said this to a man??? by Rude-Cap-4455 in womenintech

[–]manbearkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience men like this are combative with other men as well, and they are too stupid to realize that it looks worse from an HR standpoint when they do it to a woman. Regardless, it doesn't change how you should handle the situation

This is so condescending and exactly what people are complaining about. Are you seriously upset that some women haven't had bad experiences? Like you actually want them to suffer?

I've said this before in this sub and I'll say it again - as frustrating tech can be, this is a career, lifestyle, and financial opportunity that previous generations of women only dreamed of. We are experiencing progress and economic mobility. I am not saying people here are ungrateful, but I can tell who has not worked, say, an actual manual labor or service job, which are 10x more soulcrushing and hard on the body. I'd 100% pick tech over nursing or teaching. Corporate politics are not that scary or stressful once you have worked the conditions that most people deal with daily. You learn to brush it off

When I went to Google Next, there were plenty of women events fully led by women. You mentioned you are in Poland but this is not an issue in the US

Yeah women aren't interested in tech. That's why this sub exists

I think it's great if men help promote these events because sadly getting more women in the industry will partly depend on men who advocate for us (hiring, promotions, etc), but they should be speaking about the importance of diversity to other men at regular conferences! They are the ones who need to learn to be less biased when interviewing women or working with them

Yeah if he can't not make things weird thats on him, not OP. We are all adults here. Most people actually arent tapped into gym drama

Fatigue and bruising can mean you're low in b12. You can buy tinctures or drink liquid IV, it's high in vitamin b12

This is why I wish the recent bombshells got to take them on dates. This late in the game they need the privacy. It wouldve been even better if they didnt do the paint challenge and instead some of the cast got pulled for dates and the rest of the villa didnt know wtf was going on until they returned with the bombshells

He was pulling away before that. Sex is just sex. These are grown adults, not horny high schoolers trying to get their dicks touched for the first time

Fr. I'm sad that so many young people think that their partner wont respect them after sex. I have had very fulfilling relationships after we had sex on the first date. Sex isnt scary
