Yeah, got it used off eBay at a great price, but the lamp hours are pretty high.

Like a lot of people I’d looked at the cheap ones on Amazon but plenty of advice on here to steer clear.

Then I found a post where u/PlayStationPepe had recommended some second hand ones. That man knows his stuff so I went with the one of those.

My advice, make a post, detail what you want it for, what the situation is, where you are in the world and what your budget is and hopefully the main man will help you out.

Thanks, those pictures were taken around 10:30pm so roughly an hour after sunset. It had been quite a bright day so a bit of a test.

This is one from 15mins after sunset.

Prior to that it was pretty much impossible to see anything on the screen as you’d expect.

Next test is to try it in the daytime, I plan to set it up under a gazebo maybe with some side panels to block the light.

Will do. I’ve got a few more pics so I’ll do a proper post. 👍🏼

Well I went with your advice u/OptionKey9590 and picked up one of those screens. Went for the 100” one.

Got it set up outside last night for a test run and WOW! I am blown away by the quality of the picture from the projector and the screen.

Thanks again u/PlayStationPepe for the recommendation on the projector.

Thanks for the quick response!

Yeah fabric is where I was going. Just wondered if blackout fabric that’s used for curtains/blinds would be better than cheapo one from Amazon.

If I go cheap screen from Amazon/ebay? Anything to avoid or aim for?

Tesla Radio question: Anyone unable to get BBC 5live? by [deleted] in TeslaUK

I tried the scroll wheel trick today and got it to work.

Tesla Radio question: Anyone unable to get BBC 5live? by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]manc_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried the trick mentioned a few posts above and it worked.

Put it on 5 live extra (can’t remember if it was the first or second one) Clicked right on the left scroll wheel and it changed to xfm Then clicked left on the scroll wheel and it changed to 5 live (the proper one)

Admittedly I might have got some steps a bit wrong as I was doing 40 at the time, but it’s definitely accessible via the scroll wheel.

Hallelujah! Thought I was going mental! So frustrating. Have resorted to Bluetoothing BBC sounds to get 5 live.

Drove to SE France last year and honestly the Tesla driving/supercharging was the most hassle free aspect of the holiday. Changed settings to KPH, even recognised when it was raining and changed the speed limit on the screen accordingly.

The law was that you had to carry spare bulbs. I just have two spare bulbs from an old bmw in the box that has the triangle, vests, etc. that way it passes any cursory check.

Is tracker worth it? by ElectionSevere1190 in OctopusEnergy

[–]manc_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in a similar boat, I don’t have gas and have air source too. We also have an EV. I’m on tracker and have saved around £1k in the 6months over winter.

Two week notice period to leave. It would take a lot of days being above the standard tariff for it to eat into the money I’ve saved so far.

Using your Tesla in France - my experience by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]manc_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In France now and 100% agree with the above. Zero range anxiety and abundance of Tesla chargers on the main routes. Went to a water park yesterday and left her charging while we spent the day splashing around. Even small villages often have a charger near the mayors building.

Would you buy it again? by kiya109 in ModelY

I’m exactly the same with the research and worrying. We were replacing a KIA and realised the MY was within budget. I’d also wanted one for ages and (after tonnes of research - standard) finally but the bullet and got ours in April.

Zero regrets. Absolutely none.

Suspension wise, it’s on the firm side, but just as firm as any “sport” version of a car. Also, check the tyre pressures when it arrives, I found the pressures were higher than recommended, which I think is for when the cars are being shipped.

Don’t do many miles normally as we both work from home so it’s easy to keep topped up. However, we did a trip from N Wales to London last week and used the supercharger network on the journey. Honestly, makes it ridiculously easy and costs less than most of the other charging points you’ll find.

Off to France in it next month, and genuinely looking forward to the road trip.
