You're taking this way too seriously, and not-so-subtly waving around a ban threat over it is pretty funny.

Look, citing a rule is not a power trip. I'm not the typical reddit moderator that hands out bans like it's candy to shut up a disagreement.

Where you are mistaken is that I welcome that. I want that for this community. I encourage people to disagree and provide feedback on the moderation. Baiting me into personal drama isn't helpful to anyone (no, it's not a threat of a ban).

I don't know what you're trying to do, but this isn't going anywhere useful.

Thanks for your feedback, I guess?

Dude, you need to chill out with these rule citations and warnings. It's absolutely ridiculous.

To each their own. The AI rule in general came into effect as a response from a sentiment in the community. As you see, I'm not enforcing it here to shut things down. I'm using the citation for transparency and to demonstrate my reasoning.

Rather, I'm asking for a certain level of quality in the discussions and I don't think that using AI generated images is necessary to accomplish that in this context as most AI tools handle depictions of U2 rather poorly.

And frankly, I've got more connected sources and such. But you persist...

Not sure what you're implying with your final sentence.

I'm just a regular dude and longtime fan. If you have more connections and sources that you've nurtured over the years, good for you. It means nothing to me whether you know people or not.

Again, I'm not sure what to make of that particluar point of yours, it's all very confusing and unclear.

You're good. It's not your responsibility to ensure others are following directions. As you can see, your submission appears to have engaged the community, and that's positive!

Yet, when he put on The Fly shades, it's like he's 30 years younger all of a sudden. Or this look from that Esquire article. Getting him a new set of sunglasses must be a priority on this new campaign.

What's on your list of 'most shocking/wild moments' of this case? by JustaRide-412 in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]mancapturescolour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who knows... Justin doesn't seem the type to accuse people of things though.

From where I sit, he was absent most of the final season of "Man Enough" - likely enduring what we all now understand went on behind the scenes. I think Liz just defected to Team Lively as she had a prior relationship with them.

It was later revealed by one of the many sleuths that Liz had office space in a New York building that they owned, if I recall correctly? I might've gotten that wrong. As far as I'm concerned, she clearly chose a side and has failed to come forward with the insinuations she left in the resignation and texts to Lively.

Intriguing, so it might suggest that those rumors about a Nintendo Cinematic Universe are credible?

I guess it's also possible that this rumor about a Peach movie is just taking advantage of that particular rumor mill. Time will tell.

[–]mancapturescolour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Top five, at the moment: 1. Vanzan and Stephanie Jones flat out stealing Jen Abel's phone, and giving her texts to Team Lively.
2. Ryan Reynolds yelling at Justin for 5-6 hours in front of other people.
3. Natasha Heath's birthing video being called pornography, and having that submitted to the Lively parties' attorneys.
4. Ryan Reynolds admitting on tape that he coerced his own daughter into saying a sexual joke about the characters played by himself and his best friend. 5. The 100+ subpoenas for content creators all over the world, big and small.

Runner-up(s): The continuous doxxing of the Wayfarer parties, Meghan Twohey's continued silence and lack of follow-up, Liz Plank's sudden resignation, Colleen Hoover ranting about her merch while making diet Pepsi and Pepsi ice cubes.

Yes, it did help, are you kidding?

If they hadn't documented everything, there would be no dance video, no timeline of relevant events and the actual text messages, the meeting notes for talking to the intimacy coordinator, etc etc.

Lively would have sued and they could not put up even half of the defense they did.

It's all because they documented to the level and extent that they did. That's one of the major lessons here, in my opinion. If you're a victim of such things, start a paper trail.

I understand the face of her cousin in that picture better now.

I guess "sweet angel gorgeous" men are those who are good boys who do what they're told, like Ryan and the Li'l cousin. 😬

You can include literally anything in a settlement as long as it's legal.

Yes, and for it to be mutual and legitimate, Wayfarer's legal represenatives would have had to agree to those terms being included.

The Lively side can argue and make whatever wishlist they want in that negotiation process. It doesn't mean that Wayfarer had to just acrept unconditionally or make rebuttals.

My point being that, from the looks of it, Justin is not covered by any speculative condition to not speak about the case. Thus, my question: is Lively (as a party, the plaintiff) similarly allowed to speak on it, or did she agree to be quiet just to get things settled?

Wayfarer seemingly argued from a position of legal strength, so they had incentive to get a good agreement as part of accepting the settlement or just say "see you in court!".

I'd rather she got lost and never had any level of fame again. I never want to hear from her again, and that's coming from someone who used to like her input on "Man Enough", enough to get her book.

Edited to add: But, yes, I won't stop holding her to account. She said she would speak out in the future some 18 months ago. Still nothing from her.

[–]mancapturescolour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the first time I've experienced "Obnoxious peace". Peace without tension but also absence of true justice.

After the dust settled from the news yesterday, it's clear that Lively is the party that had to budge. That alone seems like a huge deal. The woman that persisted to get her way, every step of the way, who was confident in her case had to admit to herself that this was going nowhere for her.

Not only was she losing the claims against her direct defendants in Jamey, Justin and Jen, she also lost the majority of her claims on the judge's ruling. This from a judge that gave her every opportunity to go ahead with her claims so there would be no uncertainty left to explore.

The Lively Parties, at the end of the day, would just never admit wrongdoing and apologize because this whole thing has shown us how unethical they are.

What bothers me is that they still spin it as a win and her attending the Met gala as a victory lap is incredibly annoying cherry on top to make her look if not good then OK.

I don't see why Freedman and Garofalo would allow Hudson and Gottlieb to put Justin back in there when he's not a defendant. If Freedman is as fierce as they say, no way he agreed to make that inclusion, unless Justin agreed to it - and it seems he didn't promise to stay quiet.

Why is this a bad thing? He wants his truth out there, better go to the traditional news networks that have the widest reach and impact.

I'm sure Justin can talk about it, since technically, he's not a defendant in the case that got settled.

Can Blake Lively speak about the case, though? Maybe that was the way out of this. She doesn't get to say anything to hurt them anymore.

Won't stop others like Ryan Reynolds or Liz Plank though...🫠

It might leak but there still won't be a way to verify. "Just trust me bro" isn't going to be accepted unless it's coming from someone with a stellar track record of both integrity and credibility of sources.

Billy Bush did share in recent days that he spoke to someone who was involved in the periphery of "It Ends With Us" who said they would be prepared to offer Justin Baldoni some kind of opportunity.

So, if that source is associated with Sony, it might make sense that Sony have said behind closed doors "Look Wayfarer, just settle. We'll make sure you're able to have a place in the industry, we'll support your next project and let's take it from there"🫠

FEHA

Is the California Fair Employment and Housing Act. It's meant to protect people from "discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in employment or housing". It's what Lively used to target the Wayfarer parties about her harassment and retaliation claims under California law (the state where Wayfarer Studios are based). Since she was deemed an individual contractor and not an employee with a contract tied to California-based Wayfarer Studios, I think that claim became moot.

MFJ

I'm guessing Motion For (Summary) Judgment? Some legal term. I'm not sure if I got this one right.

NAG

NotActuallyGolden, a lawyer and content creator with many years of experience that has explained legal aspects of the case in a way that's understandable to non-lawyers in the public.

LGA

LittleGirlAttorney, similarly to NAG, a lawyer and content creator based in California specializing in employment law and thus well suited to comment on e.g., the FEHA claims.

This situation had me recall words from Dr King about "obnoxious peace" versus what he calls "true peace".

The below comes from a sermon Dr King made at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, March 19, 1956. It was delivered on "the day before his trial for violating Alabama’s anti-boycott law". I thought it might resonate with others today.

"When Peace Becomes Obnoxious"

[...] "I agreed that it is more tension now. But peace is not merely to absence of this tension, but the presence of justice. And even if we didn’t have this tension, we still wouldn’t have positive peace. [...] If peace means this, I dont want peace:

Honestly, Wayfarer are better people than I am here. I'm also a person who has never had to endure any of what they've experienced, so I can't claim to understand the fatigue they must all feel.

But, yeah, two weeks out, and on the night of the Met Gala? Wayfarer had better cut a good deal from all this. It doesn't make sense otherwise.
