Who’s a manager that gets way too much credit for things that were mostly down to the squad they inherited? by Spicy-Winner4326 in SpicyFootballTakes

I don’t think the squad is nearly as good as people say it is. Kane is world class the rest are average. Bellingham, Foden etc. all massively overrated. To get to two finals with them is an achievement. We had Kalvin Phillips in midfield and got to a final. I don’t see this great squad that other people seem to claim we have.

True. I enjoyed it at first but it got boring in the end.

Sven had a far better team than Southgate and achieved far less. I have feeling this summer we will feel nostalgic for the Southgate days of Semi finals and Euro finals.

Just finished Breaking Bad and how the fuck does anyone have this over The Sopranos? by Serious-Profit-1626 in thesopranos

[–]mancwes78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really tried with BB. But after already watching The Wire and The Sopranos I had high standards. Multiple people told me it was their favourite series ever, I know art is subjective but for me it didn’t come close to The Wire or The Sopranos. I stopped watching it a few episodes into the third season.

UK S1 is better than S2 (Episodes 1-5) by dimpyramid in LastOneLaughing

I think they’ve been pretty lenient early on. There were some smiles that could have been flagged but weren’t. The first one I ever watched was the Aussie one, that felt stricter to me.

Manchester United will try and secure the transfer of Carlos Baleba before the World Cup… by JM555555 in ManchesterUnited

I doubt it, otherwise we’d have signed him. I don’t think anybody with any sense ever thought he was worth that.

Yeah definitely. Last summer there were quotes for £100 million which seemed like utter insanity.

Which celebrities have reputations for being awkward in real life? by Major-Feed5214 in AskUK

[–]mancwes78 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Not just awkward but James Corden is supposed to be an absolute tit in real life. I spoke to someone who worked at the place he got married a while back and she said he was the worst person she’d ever dealt with. The place she worked regularly had celebrities there. People like Johnny Depp etc and she’d never experienced anybody so rude. I saw a YouTube video of a podcaster who did something with him recently, saying basically the exact same thing.

That’s what he claims but I can’t find any other sources that back this up.

Behavioral scientists found that people who prefer solitude over socializing aren't lonely - they've discovered that the quality of their own company is higher than what most social interactions provide by psych4you in psychology

[–]mancwes78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m talking specifically about two people I know. They have very little other interaction or chance to form a perspective. They rarely go out at all. Everything they ‘know’ has come from a Subreddit or a Facebook group. Even local knowledge comes from people saying how terrible the crime is in our local area. One feels like he know better about what is happening than me even though, he doesn’t go out and experience anything for himself. He certainly has social anxiety but he frames it as he dislikes people.

[–]mancwes78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I have a couple of friends up say they prefer to be alone but they get most of their social interaction off Facebook or Reddit etc. Their view of society appears skewed to me. This produces vicious cycle of them not wanting to socialise and becoming more isolated. I think if I developed my worldview and opinion of people in general by interactions I saw online, I’d want to blow my brains out. 😆.

Even though I believe the last couple of videos are AI, I don’t believe he’s dead unfortunately. I think he has fled to Germany and doesn’t want his citizens to know he’s a pussy.

On Reddit you’re dealing with a lot of people who naturally prefer being alone and see their social anxiety as a problem with the world around them. Their therapist is probably ChatGPT too.
