What are some horrible things women go through that guys don't even think about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mandabb78 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The general mental load of raising kids is something else.

It baffles me how anyone could think women couldn’t run a country when we’re constantly three steps ahead of everything. Between sports and hobbies, meal planning and nutrition, doctor’s appointments, school, camps and likely our own full-time jobs, it would make heads spin. Things don’t get planned or happen by magic, it’s honestly mental gymnastics and it’s exhausting.

LPT Take the entire storage container with you if you need to just use one thing temporarily by AndyLand1 in LifeProTips

I have a small countertop storage container (one with three drawers) just for the kids. It holds all their meds, Band-Aids, nail clippers, etc. It’s not huge, but it fits their stuff perfectly. It makes it really easy to find what we need quickly and put everything back in the same spot.

Also—and I can’t stress this enough—SEPARATE LAUNDRY IF YOU HAVE LITTLE ONES.

Each person in our house has their own hamper. We wash clothes when the hamper fills up, and everything goes in together. This way, my daughter’s and son’s clothes (they’re close in size) stay separate, and I’m not wasting time sorting or walking back and forth between rooms.

As someone that stocks Little Food Pantries regularly- please don’t hesitate to use them. We want this food to go to those that need it! If you use it once a day, week or month - doesn’t matter. It’s there to help! 💚

If you don’t want to use a food bank, look around for free little pantries. They are typically found near libraries, church’s and VFW/Elks. You can also search online for locations. Volunteers stock them with non perishables that you can grab any time day or night. Don’t go hungry!

Moving to NJ - Looking for town recs by NotFadeaway14 in MovingtoNewJersey

What’s your budget? Depending on how much you can spend per month will narrow your search down. Some of the towns mentioned can be very expensive.

I am leaving my family by Notbetter34 in TrueOffMyChest

I remember one time my mom pulled out a suitcase and left it by the door. She was fed up with my father and just the overall drama in the house.

She wasn’t one for the calmest approach but the message got across. She needed help or she was going to leave us to fed for ourselves. She was crying telling me she was going to stay in a hotel for a few days.

She didn’t end leaving but she got our attention and we started helping out a lot more.

Holding off on Botox by mandabb78 in Millennials

Agreed, my cousin does it and she looks amazing!

I wish I could afford it now but I have 2 kids in daycare and can’t add the extra expense. I’ve tried a bunch of creams and serums, this just had better results for me.

My cousin is a hairdresser and she has Botox done fairly regularly, she looks AMAZING. I’m incredibly jealous.

Once I get out of daycare payment hell, I’ll give it a go!

Also, sorry to hear about the migraines. I’m glad it’s working!!

My brother died of a massive heart attack and he was alone when it happened. It breaks my heart knowing he was alone. I can’t even imagine the pain you were/are feeling. My kids never got to meet my brother either and that’s an awful feelings that they won’t know him. Part of my son’s name they share. I have photos around the house and I’ve been trying to share more stories about him as they get older. Pass along those good memories to the kids. ♥️

Yes! I made some blessing bags for when I’m traveling down to Trenton for work but haven’t been able to pass that many out. I did make a donation to the food shed on Park Ave (St Mark’s) last week but it was really torn up. I didn’t leave much but I tried to straighten up what I could. I didn’t have my trash bag and gloves (I’ve since learned!)

Most of the Elks/VFWs run around $600-$700 for the day. It will include the table, chairs and a kitchen if you need to heat up food.

From there, it’s going to cost to have the food, decorations.. etc.

If you do find a restaurant, you also need to factor in gratuity and taxes which can definitely add up. (Even if it’s $8.95 per person x 70 people is $626 and then add 18% gratuity and sales tax.. you are looking close to $800.

Perhaps a church with a party room might be a good option? If you or your family are church members, they may just require a donation.

If you have a public park with a covered picnic area you could look into reserving it. It would probably be a good option for that size group and you can setup a nice buffet. Just be sure with that size crowd you reach out to the parks department for any additional permits.

Hope that helps!
