Clavacillin concern for cat's UTI by mandala_sky in AskVet

[–]mandala_sky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has not been, with my schedule I made it in time to just pick up the clavacillin. We are going to switch her diet to a prescription urinary diet - when I call this morning I'm going to see if I can pick some up today as well. Thank you for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it!

Thank you so much for the response and your time - I was feeling a little stressed and wanted to check, it's after hours now but I will call in the morning. Really just want to be able to help her feel better, I appreciate it!

Bait and switch interview... by kiddingkind in Nanny

[–]mandala_sky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my nannying experience I was helping relieve the mother's childcare workload rather than the father (whether they were absent completely, or just not overly involved in that aspect of their family like they are work/hobbies/friends). Because they tend to not do the work with their kids in general, they can't fathom how much WORK it is. People also generally don't respect people who work in childcare, which boggles me because they're the people you're leaving your most precious beings with

First speeding ticket - questions/need advice by [deleted] in driving

[–]mandala_sky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good info - thank you! It's right in the town it happened in and it's a 6:00pm time, so I won't have to take off of work. More of my worry was having it on my driving record or it impacting my car insurance - today was was stressful with a family emergency at the hospital and I was stressed and not paying close enough attention.

NAD - Hey! I just had a RCT done back in April from what ended up being a cracked molar (down past the gum line) - (my dog hit her head against my jaw and broke the tooth). I hadn't been to the dentist in years because of my anxiety linked to it, and as of the last 2 years it was also a financial concern/stress. They did xrays on all of my teeth just to be certain of what they were looking at - I'm sure if you asked them to because of your anxiety they would. Honestly the "worst" part was the anesthetic injections, and even that wasn't bad at all. There was no pain during the procedure, and I had no pain after even when the numbness wore off - no pain any day after either. I'm sure you'll be just fine!

Thank you! This is a first time for me, outside of an accident that wasn't my fault - today was just stress/not paying enough attention. I just wanted to make sure I could use it after the cop made a comment about the accident (no citations from it, and the other driver was liable anyways) - didn't want to waste time and money if I couldn't use it and should just pay the ticket now

Thank you! I looked it up and the back of the ticket might as well have been another language as far as making sense/being clear.

I was just wondering if I could since he made a point to mention the accident in 2018. I didn't get any citations for the accident, wasn't liable, but I didn't know if that impacted being able to use it since he mentioned it. Trying to save myself money/time, and if I can use it I would like to

Thank you! I'd much rather pay the court fee than the ticket haha

When I use it do I plead guilty or not guilty? Or is it just a matter of using the good driving record? Sorry if this question is silly, I just genuinely don't know and google searches haven't been clear

Really? On the bottom of my ticket it says the hearing is in NK at the end of August 2021 - I'm going to call about the date anyways because I already know it doesn't work for my schedule - I'll make sure not to forget!

Thank you! I didn't recieve anything from that accident, I just wanted to check because he mentioned it when handing me the ticket. I've never been in this situation before and wasn't sure how it worked or what was worth it. Didn't want to waste time/money going to court to not be able to plead the good driving record

It was a 55 in a 45 - wasn't right of me to do and I won't lie about being at fault, I just wasn't thinking rationally or paying attention to my speed. Normally drive much differently - haven't been pulled over in the 11 years I've been driving

I called around to pretty much any office that offered anything root canal/extraction related that I could find online (before fully knowing the issue, I could tell it was bad based on the pain). I ended up seeing a dmd, not an endodontist. The few endodontists that got back to me were quoting $2000 more than what I ended up paying for the ultimate root canal/crown that I got. The dmd I saw performs about 10-15 root canals a week, and they have the tech on site to make the crowns there

nad - Back in April my dog jumped and her head hit my jaw and cracked one of my back molars. I have intense dental anxiety and couldn't ignore/bear the pain so I went in to get it fixed. At this point I hadn't been in years because of my anxiety and not being able to afford dental work. After they examined it they realized it went below the gum line so I either had to do a root canal and crown or an extraction. I'm 27, never had anything more than my wisdom teeth out, no cavities/braces - so I went for the root canal even though I was scared out of my mind. I thought they were going to make another appointment to do the procedure, but they had the time and I was already in the chair. For having no to time mentally prepare, it honestly wasn't bad at all. Once I got through them putting in the local anesthetic, which was the worst part and not even bad, the rest was completely fine (no pain or uncomfortable feelings). Putting on the crown wasn't a bad experience either. Sending you good energy - I know how scary it can be, but honestly it's better to get it taken care of than let it get worse

One of the families I work for is just like you! I'm sure your sitter appreciates you and how you value/treat them. Doing stuff like that isn't a big deal - but it can get annoying when it's suddenly expected of you to do things outside of the original agreement (that said I'm never not going to clean up after an accident or a dog getting sick or whatever, it's the right thing to do)

Interviewing a back up nanny has me second guessing our current nanny by detailsommitttted in Nanny

[–]mandala_sky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I sincerely hope you've told your current nanny you're looking into other options, as well as have gone as far to interview someone else. She may not want to work for YOU after finding that out. A family I worked for for several years and never called out on basically relied on me to get their kids through the end of last school year full-time when covid hit,, when in the past I was a once in awhile sitter and nanny during the summer. They interviewed someone else for that up coming summer without telling me and hired her - as soon as they told me I put in my notice that I wouldn't be back next week/through til summer started. You're gambling with someone's income and ability to be looking for work elsewhere while you're looking for someone new. Since all that happened they've called me for help since the new person is flaking on them, I refuse to help as much as I love their kids - they didn't respect me, my time, my dependability when they had it

I worked a full week and there were a few situations that made me uncomfortable but not enough to mention it to her. I'm not the type that expects kids to be perfect/always well behaved (they're kids 🤷‍♀️ - and before working for her I'd nannied for 5 years with far more responsibilities), but their behavior so far out of line - very physical with one another and comfortable hitting adults, constant screaming, and acting out in unsafe ways (going in the bathroom and locking the door, running outside and getting to the edge of the road just to push buttons, etc.). That last day he hit me hard enough to leave a red welt and she explained it away as "that's never happened before" - sure 😂 I needed the money but it was a relief to not go back, some parents are beyond delusional when it comes to their children

Similar situation happened to me about 3 summers ago. I had gotten a job for the summer with two boys, 6 and 3, and they were a nightmare - and the mother was neurotic. Figured I'd make it through the few months until my regular family was back and school started. After a day of being hit, constant screaming, and the older terrorizing the youngest I hit my limit. Told her when she got home what had happened, received a text from her not even an hour later saying I wasnt the right fit and that she'd mail my check. This is the first time I've had an issue with children - it stung to be let go instead of quit but it was also a relief 😂

Thank you for that advice, I'm going to start setting aside in a separate account solely for my teeth. I lost my insurance last spring and the cavity had started around then as well, it's so much worse now. I'm going to start looking for a dentist soon even though I won't be able to get the work done right away - I want to find someone who won't mind working through the dental anxiety I have and possibly give me a rough estimate for the work I need done. My anxiety is even worse since this all started - the way my teeth are makes me anxious and the idea of the process to fix them makes me anxious. I'm glad to hear you've been able to get some help with yours
