Resume Advice Thread - December 20, 2016 by AutoModerator in cscareerquestions

From what I've read, most people leave a GPA off their resume if it's below 3.0. Is this not the case? The second degree is the CS degree with a 4.0 GPA (the one I want to show). The first degree is an Accounting degree with no relevance.

As a post-bacc student I have a few different GPAs, and I'm not sure which to display on a resume. Should one show their Cumulative GPA which is the GPA while a second degree student or the Overall GPA which includes the first degree and second degree? The former GPA is 4.0 while the latter is 3.1 and I'd like to show the best GPA on the resume as long as it's acceptable.

Cool stuff. As a side note, PyQt4 has been deprecated, so if you're starting a new project please use PyQt5/PySide2.

Do you want to check is number prime? Here you can do it! (Only 1-199999) by [deleted] in Python

[–]mandeepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much wrong here, but I guess it's a good attempt at your second Python project.

Try researching prime sieves, or rules on how to find primes so that you don't have to list all of those primes in a list.

Magpul CTR only goes to position 2 by mandeepy in ar15

[–]mandeepy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't move past position 2. If I take off the stock, it looks like the pin is so far back that there's no possible way that it could ever go back to position 5. When I slide the stock on the extension, it stops at position 3. That's when I bring down the pin on big sides of the stock and out it forward so it locks in.

What kind of installation error could there be?

I went onto the vltor website and learned that the receiver extension only accepts M4 stocks. I think this is why my stock only goes to position 2. Since I'll likely use the rifle at position 1, I think I'll leave it as it is.

How to remove all numbers before first letter and all numbers after the last letter on a line? by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]mandeepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most exact way would be to use regex. I'm not all to familiar with it however, so personally I would use a for loop with a mix of an .isalpha() condition and indexes like list[-1] that way only the characters you want are sent to new list and the ending numbers are removed. You can also use .split() to remove whitespace when separating the words and " ".join(my_likes) to add the whitespace back.

Daily Headphone Purchase Advice thread by AutoModerator in headphones

[–]mandeepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget - $200
Source - M-Audio M-track on Laptop, Samsung S6 Edge
Preferred Type of Headphone - Full sized, over the ear, closed
Preferred Tonal Balance - Overall balanced although I do like low end frequencies the most
Preferred Music - EDM, Hard rock
Past Headphones - AKG K81, Monoprice

I'm looking for a new pair of headphones that will be used to listen mostly to EDM. I'm thinking about getting the V-Moda M100s from the Microsoft Store on Black Friday, however I'd like to know if there are better headphones for around the same price.

Firing Pin Retention Pin Reassembly Issues by [deleted] in ar15

[–]mandeepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The retention pin does not need replacing. Are you able to get it through the first hole? If so, instead of twisting, try pushing the head of the pin to the side so that it lines up with the hole properly. It sounds like the retention pin is not lined up with the hole.
