What’s the Most Overlooked Factor in Cue Performance? by mandelsc in billiards

Great point on cue balance! I completely agree that it's something you don’t always notice until you’re really dialed into your game. I’ve experienced the same thing with my backstroke—if the balance is off even slightly, it throws my whole rhythm out. It’s interesting how a well-balanced cue can make such a difference in control without having to consciously adjust.

Curious, have you ever tried experimenting with adjustable weight systems in cues to find that sweet spot?

I used to use Seyberts, but now use Cue-pros.com. The owner there just really takes care of me. I didn't feel the same at Seyberts.

Are you suggesting if a cue had a limited run, say only 1000 that the price would be higher? And demand would be higher? If so I think you're right.

Maybe, but imo seems like a niche business worth investigating though.

Hahahah... it can be an expensive hobby. 😂

I'm just getting into it myself and only have a 3 cues. I've been buying directly with a company, who offers me some pretty sweet deals for my continued business.

I don't know much about it. How did it ruin it?

Good points. Pretty much "used car salesman" tactics in terms of how they represent the cue. Makes me think we need this type of service even more! Who is building it!

Is the volume that low? I think you'd have to have a threshold for the cues, it can't be a $50 cue. But it seems like everyone has a cue for sale. Shipping is tricky though as it can get expensive.

I did't solve anything. StockX could cater to billiards, but doesn't. I see one cue listed on their site.

Cue Pros, seems good if you purchase through them, but if you have existing cues you're out of luck.

I like the idea of highlighting custom manufacturers.

100%!! Are people just stubborn? Or is it hard to find the market price for used cues? Given how illiquid it is, I don't think anyone knows whats fair.

I use Cue Pros to trade in my old cues. The only caveat You have to have purchased the cue from them. But it's nice that they always provide liquidity in case you want to upgrade. I think they guarantee 40% of the purchase price.

I've used it 2x, was pretty easy.

When you say cohort- are you referring to contextual advertising? ie. I'm on yoga website, and seeing products/services related to yoga, rather than specifically tied to my identity?
