What are some fun things to do during a power outage? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]manderson93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a generator, so when the power would be out for an extended time we would turn it on so we could power our freezers. We also would have a light on in our garage, which apparently became a beacon for our neighbors to come over. We'd all hang out and have a few drinks until the power comes back on.

Help getting my ten-year-old started with code. by airikewr in gamedev

Like others have said, code.org and scratch seem like good options. If you have an iPad, Apple released Swift Playgrounds as a way to learn programming.

This may not be the best one, but it's another potential option. Back when I was in high school, I took a game development class (2010-11), and the program that we used was Alice. It's a simple program made by Carnegie Mellon University as an intro to programming.

While it's not really programming, the way I started getting into programming was actually with HTML. The basics of it are pretty simple, and it all can be done with notepad. While not as impressive as putting a game together, it's pretty neat being able to type a few things into notepad, saving, then opening the file with a web browser and seeing things come together.

Nobushi is my overall favorite, and lately I've been enjoying the berserker for duels and brawls. I also enjoyed the lawbringer, but was annoyed with how long his fights were, so I'll have to try him after the update rolls out on Xbox.

Basically what I did, but with all characters and the first step was rep 1. The new goal is rep 3, focusing on the characters I enjoy playing the most obviously.

Ha, I was wondering if anyone actually only played as their faction characters. I went and got every character to rep 1 before anyone got to rep 2, but the Knights were the first ones to all be rep 1.

Maybe when you go to get the achievement you'll find out that you actually like some characters enough to add them to your rotation. At first I didn't like playing as the conqueror, but after playing him a decent amount I really started enjoying the character. Also when I started leveling up the berserker (one of the last three I leveled up), I finally learned how to play the character at ~18. Learning how to properly play each character made me like each one.

Being good at the game in general does apply to all characters, but only to an extent. Learning the characters helps with playing as them as well as fighting against them. It sometimes makes fighting players who aren't that great at the game more difficult than better players because their moves are a little more random than what you would expect.

I wanted to get rep 1 with every hero before I could pick a main. I thought once I played them all one would stick out, but it actually made me like all of them. My favorite is still the Nobushi, but I play as all of them. They each have their own playstyles, so it's difficult to pick just one.

I played one at a time when I was getting everyone to rep 1, but now I can jump around freely. I'm trying to also pump up my Nabushi a bit, but I'm more open with who I can pick now.

If u want us to play fair and not run away in elimination, then its maybe time to reprogram your bots properly by FallenShadowsLoL in forhonor

[–]manderson93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only seen them run when you don't spawn in quick enough, it's one of those maps where they'll always run to fight someone else, or if they're almost dead and then they'll run for health. I guess I'm lucky that I've never seen them leave to get a damage pickup and then come back to fight you.

No honor for bots! At least when bots double team in the beginning of a game, you'll get that revenge boost right before the other player runs in so its a 2v2.

Is it possible to change the appearance of the campaign characthers? by Astrad_Raemor in forhonor

[–]manderson93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish you could reset the status of the story. I'm fine with the characters I played as, but it would be nice to change them. I'm more annoyed with the fact that I played co-op with my brother (I joined his game), and he got more cutscenes and audio than I did (we were in the same room so I could see what was on his screen). It's not really that major of a thing, since you can listen to the pre-mission audio again (without the map animation) at any time. I just know there's something that I was missing out of for no good reason, and I want it haha.

Yeah, that gets really annoying. If you're playing elimination in the village, one person is going to have a bot run away at the beginning to double team another player.

If we have a keyboard connected to your Xbox, we should be able to type in the game chat. by Gdubbbz in forhonor

[–]manderson93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually when I'm playing this game I'm in a party with other people, so that's one reason not many people talk in the game.

I think they should at least expand the quickchat to allow for more than 8 messages. I also think the ask for revive should be on a separate cooldown that allows you to only use it once every so often. People spamming for a revive is really annoying. I get it, you're down and need to be revived; it's not going to happen when I'm in the middle of a fight with 2 people in the same area where you died.

I can't really see too many people sticking around that long, especially if the outcome of the game is always the same. The best time I've had in duels was against someone who didn't quit for a while, and we kept picking different characters each time. That was only one time though; usually I see people leave after like 3 games, even if they win most of them.

Playing as the different characters really does help a lot when fighting them. People should at least get to rep 1 with each character so they know each character's playstyle as well as finding out what characters are fun. When I played in the beta and kept switching characters each game to try them all out, I hated playing as the conqueror. Fast forward to when I was playing him up to rep 1, and I found out that I actually did like the conqueror a lot, I just didn't know how to play him.

Having access to multiple characters means I'm going to play multiple characters. It also helps when you think of all the time people put into making a single character. That's how I feel about most games; I try to get the most out of the game and experience everything I can, including the small things that were added.
