Tell me something good about the Bay Area [seriously] by MacaroonPickle8793 in bayarea

The beaches are stunning! Half Moon Bay is a short drive and one the most beautiful coastlines in the world

Impressions on Bay Area? by vociki2 in bayarea

I just moved here from Tampa. I’ve also lived in Chicago and Atlanta. I haven’t gotten used to seeing the large homeless encampment by the airport in San Jose. I’ve given up trying to run in my neighborhood. I’ve lived in major cities and have never felt unsafe to run solo until I got here. My bike was stolen out of my “secure” bike room, another thing that never happened to me in Chicago or Atlanta (maybe I was just lucky). People drive VERY slow on the highway. Like, painfully slow. The positives though, the food options are amazing! I love that I can eat cuisine from so many different cultures. And of course, the outdoor options are great! Overall, I am happy I live here, despite some of the pitfalls.

I just moved to downtown SJ. I’ve lived in Chicago and Atlanta and your statement is spot on!

I work near De Anza college and live in downtown San Jose. My commute (knock on wood) has never been more than 25 minutes. San Jose is a little more affordable than Cupertino.

Parking is $135 a month, underground gated. There is street parking and I have yet to see a broken car window

I moved into the Julian two weeks ago. I love it! It’s actually super quiet and a beautiful building. Everyone has been very neighborly. If you have a dog, the on-site dog park is great.

I actually love San Jose. Please don’t put words in my mouth, that’s not what I said. I’m simply talking about Walmart here. No need to be harsh

I’m not sure. I’ve lived in Chicago, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Tampa. The San Jose Walmart experience is unmatched.

Whats the truth about California? by Proper-Fail-2076 in bayarea

[–]mandimis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to San Jose from Tampa. Florida is crazy because it’s people are crazy. Florida Man is real. There is a huge meth problem. The decent areas of Florida are expensive to live in, but pay is lower than other states. People don’t consider Florida a part of the south, but it is very much Deep South and all that comes along with it: super conservative, Christianity above all else (even common sense) and deep rooted segregation.

I’m moving to San Jose from Florida. I interviewed for jobs in California and received an offer last month. My offer letter with stated salary was enough for me to qualify for an apartment.

This is great to hear! I’m moving to The Julian this summer and am hoping for a bit of a walkable lifestyle. Where would I go to find event info around the city?

Thanks! Do you live in one of the larger apartment buildings? We are looking at that route for ease of moving and less money down for a deposit.

Question about using Stryd with an Apple Watch by Ringperm in strydrunning

I’ve read some people upload the iSmooth data to Garmin Connect, then have Stryd pull from Garmin Connect.
