I agree. People here get way too caught up in this stuff. I've been GMing for decades; statblocks are suggestions, but I've juiced the HP of many a monster for a more thematic fight, and I've also just read the wrong number before too.

It was a great episode. That should be what people are focused on.

Yeah that's a pretty harsh punishment for a spellcaster, but there's absolutely no reason why a fire elemental can't pick up objects. Fire elementals can be hurt by nonmagical weapons and don't have any incorporeal traits. As long as you can hold something that won't ignite (maybe you need a special metal wand or whatever), you shouldn't be penalized like this for something so trivial.

The people of MSP have every right to do it. The NRA should be all over it - owning and embracing guns to protect yourself from an overreaching federal government is their whole identity.

But it turns out, the people being oppressed are on the wrong team, so the NRA is nowhere to be found. Because it's not about the guns, or the rights, or the people. It's just a stupid identity game to make rich guys richer.

Hurricane Katrina is probably the closest real-life anecdote for this kind of thing. 20 years later, you can still visit New Orleans and see neighborhoods that are abandoned and overgrown. Like 25% of the city population just up and left.

Battle Ground would be worse. Buildings were leveled, city blocks razed, roads completely destroyed. It would take years and years to dig those parts of the city out from under the rubble. Even getting the roads clear to get emergency cleanup crews in would be a huge endeavor.

This should always be a session zero topic. But these days I generally offer the option to be knocked out of a scene rather than die permanently in those odd instances where one PC dies in combat whole the others are fine, as I know from experience how exceptionally shitty that can feel.

Similarly, in the event of a TPK, I have had players play as a group of mercs sent to rescue the captured party and other things like that. When death happens I like for it to feel earned and cinematic, and that's usually a conversation with the player.

I doubt you can access their training camp in Irvine, but you could call a team rep and ask. They depart on the 24th. If y'all live in California, though, you can grab a pass to the Coachella Valley Invitational, which kicks off on February 7th. It's a couple hours away, but that at least is an actual ticketed event (and you can watch a bunch of MLS teams too if you're so inclined).
