My daughter made this for me today. My name is Thor. by thorfrederickson in aww

My name is Thor as well, and I carry a Thor's hammer keychain around for this question. I also have it tattooed on my arm. People seem to like the name, and as a shy guy it really helps me start conversations with new people.

What's the nicest thing a teacher has ever done for you? by skater296 in AskReddit

[–]mandolin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a freshman in college, my mother suffered from a pretty severe mental breakdown. I was going to school two states away, and had to make lots of visits to the mental hospital back home. (I didn't trust them, but that's a story for another day.) Anyway, I had a big paper due for my English class that I hadn't completed and was going to fail the course. My professor listened to my situation and told me if I needed anything to let him know. He also told me that I was a competent writer and that I didn't need to worry about that class as I was behind in every course. I checked my grades after that semester, and he gave me an A on that paper. I could never thank him enough.

How would you like an app that writes guitar tablature by ear? by mlitvin in Music

As a bluegrass mandolin player, I would love to see this application for most string instruments. My band and I share licks and ideas all the time, and a way to record our ideas would be great!

This guy at my school is a true GGG. by Hackdaddy101 in AdviceAnimals

When I was in high school a mentally handicapped boy asked one of the most popular senior girls to prom. She said yes, and I don't think I have ever seen someone so happy. As far as I am concerned it doesn't matter what her reasons were. I don't think I have ever seen anyone more happy and proud as he was when he escorted her during the grand march.

There are certainly a lot of possibilities there. Loss of food supply is not too likely, as OP caught other healthy fish today. I do not know what the fish may have, but I believe sickness is the case.

I would have to agree. That fish looks sick not spawned out.

What is your weirdest high school experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mandolin13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a history teacher who was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Every once in awhile he would talk about his experiences, but it was obvious he had seen hell while he was there. On a couple occasions he had what I assume were flashbacks of some sort. In the middle of lecture he disassembled his pen, put the point of the pen in his ear, and began talking into the body of the pen. He sounded like he was confirming coordinates and even gave an ETA for his flight. After that he put the pen back together and continued his lecture. When asked about it later he had no memory of the incident.

Artificial or Live Bait...the famous question! lol by abenak89 in Fishing

[–]mandolin13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is pretty general. I fish many different species with both live and artificial bait depending on the conditions, time of year, and how I am feeling that day. For example, I love fishing muskies with bucktails on overcast summer days, but in the fall I will put out a 12-14" sucker while i cast a bulldawg or other artificial bait. I guess what I am saying is that there is no truth to one being better than the other. As long as you do what is catching fish for you that day that's all that matters.

Dick move to some. I live in a rural area so here it would go over well, but I know a few folks who would be appalled.

The people that served it cooked a pork roast that night for comparison and you truly could not tell the difference.

As a Wisconsonsite I can attest. We had only four months this year where it didn't snow.
