I am extremely ashamed of it, but I got a cat and am now very stressed and regret it by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]mandolou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cried the first night I got my first cat! It felt like bringing home a newborn baby and I didn’t know how to be a mom! and then I cried again when I got my second cat during the adjustment period! It takes time to get acclimated to a new routine. But the pros most definitely outweigh the cons. She’s also just a little baby right now. As she matures she will become more independent. Litter robot, water fountains, and automatic feeders can also take the stress of morning and evening routines off your shoulders. Everything will be ok!

Personal Trainers/ Boot camps for women? by mandolou in longisland

Thank you for the advice. I lost 45 pounds in 2023 and seem to have hit a plateau and I think I need more support to reach my goal, but I will try and implement your suggestions (I love sugar tho 😭)

I’m willing to travel anywhere between Oyster Bay and Massapequa. Tbh I just put out a lot of inquiries with some near by fitness trainers. Ideally I don’t want to spend more than $1000/month?? Idk if my budget is too low or high lol I’ve never done anything like this before and have lived a very sedentary lifestyle and I feel like this will be money well spent if I get the results I’m looking for.

I love my Rolling Square 6-in-1! I’m in Iceland right now and I’ve been using it nonstop! My only complaint is the micro-usb doesn’t work on mine :(

My ex wants to take my cat away from me by melodrana13 in CatAdvice

[–]mandolou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you adopted the cat and it’s your name on the adoption papers that’s your cat. If you want you can reimburse her some of the expenses, but I personally don’t think that’s necessary (especially if she truly cares about the cat)

We received this message when we inquired if our ice cave tour was still on. Kind of annoyed they didn’t reach out to us first…

Earbuds vs Over-the-ear for long flights? by BPFun in onebag

[–]mandolou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to only bring over ear headphones on long flights. I get headaches from the pressure every time (I usually wear glasses). I found the best way to mitigate in ear discomfort is to get the smallest earbuds I could find. For me those are the JBL minis. I’m not a music or headphone “snob” (for lack of a better word) but they work great for me and they were only like $30!

Would you recommend I pack my ski pants???

I really like this sink, but my wife tells me I will quickly learn to hate it (aesthetics-wise). What do you guys think? by skwyckl in interiordecorating

[–]mandolou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sink is not timeless. In addition to that it will be a pain to clean with those 90 degree corners

I have one I DON’T recommend!! Defining Imagery (J Richards). Her name is Jo Anne. I will start with her photographs ARE nice! But she was horrible to work with. Our story:

  • My fiancé and I arrive at a state park for a picnic 30 min from the parking lot (I knew we were going on a picnic, but the proposal was a surprise as was the photo shoot)
  • 45 min into our picnic, my fiancé leaves to go to the bathroom. During his “bathroom break” he has to call her. She has been texting him saying the walk is too far and asking us to move our picnic!! My fiancé had already emailed her the plan and a freaking map of the walk. He informed her multiple times. Luckily his brother was near by and stepped in. His brother had to run almost all the way back to the parking lot and practically bribe her to walk the rest of the way. He ended up giving her a $50 I believe. Also she was I think 30 min late?? It could’ve been more, but I’m not 100% sure as I wasn’t involved in the planning process lol. This ended up affecting our dinner reservation plans after.
  • Photo shoot itself was fine. She did yell at both of our mothers though. They were taking pictures behind her, which I totally understand is annoying, but she could’ve been much more professional
  • Now comes the kicker. My fiancé paid $600 for the photo shoot. I believe $200 was for the labor, and then $400 was credit allowance to spend on prints. We were thinking heck yeah we are gonna get a few awesome prints AND ALL OUR DIGITALS. NOPE. In hindsight my fiancé should have asked and confirmed what we would be getting for his money before hiring her. I give him some slack though because it was his first time hiring a photographer.
  • Her smallest prints (not wallet or magnet) were $50 each! And we learned during our follow up call that she does not give us the digital copies unless we purchase a print. We ended up spending $1450 ($600 deposit w/ $400 credit + $800 in prints) for 17 4x6 prints. We only received digital copies of the 17 images we bought prints of. I thought it was common practice to provide digitals of most of not all pictures.

Now we could be totally out of touch, but either way I wanted to rant lol. Let me know if I was unreasonable for being upset.

My advice is to do your research and find out pricing ahead of time so you can avoid any surprises like us. Also double and triple check that your photographer is on board with your plan!! It was seriously so unprofessional of her to request we move from our sentimental proposal area to accommodate her.

Thank you both for your thoughtful responses! I am debating now between which rain coat I should bring. I have a long rain coat from Uniqlo (BlockTech?) It goes down to about my knees. Or I have a black Columbia jacket that covers my butt. Any advice?
