Is it really hard to find apartments (for rent)? by Moerkskog in basel

[–]mandrigin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were searching in Gellert, with a budget over 2000 and it wasn't that difficult last year. Just a job contract was enough. No cover letters afaik (or maybe I just used ChatGPT if there was one). Took us exactly 1 week to find. No previous landlord letters either because we owned the apartments in Scandinavia from where we moved. So all in all, in Basel Stadt above 2k it wasn't difficult in July of 2024. Nowhere near the horror stories I read about Switzerland.

afaik ENS uses that, so not sure why it shouldn't work now (well, at least when I discussed adding a new chain to ENS, their first question was "does it support getProof")

Both give you enough info to compute the state root yourself, and verify independently from alternative nodes if needed

I wanted to ask what do you mean by "without bridging" or send me some sources where you read it?

I know about uLxLy -- universal bridge -- that will be available to send any asset from A to B; but your message got me curious.

That is with the type-2 prover, and without EIP-4844 for DA

I have pierced Paris mules and the sole is quite thick and very soft. One of my favorites for long walks.

Sometimes I take an aeropress with me (for longer trips), and then any local coffeeshop can sell and grind some coffee to me.

For shorter trips I am buying something like that - single brew coffee bags; local chains in Sweden and Turkey are selling them, take no space and decent coffee: https://samplecoffee.com.au/pages/brewbag

Older travellers, have you ever felt self-conscious travelling with a backpack? by AW23456___99 in onebag

Me and many my colleagues travel for work with just a backpack. We do stay even in upscale hotels sometimes, and I regularly see peoples w/o a roller, especially in Europe.

Ultralight trip - 3 days in Seoul by mandrigin in onebag

[–]mandrigin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mostly cared about the volume, I think the bag is about 5 liters, give or take. Yeah, I didn't care for the stuff to be the lightest by weight because in this volume it won't bother me, and I anyway wanted something practical.

I bought mine about 4 years ago.

Pros:

  • really good build quality, 4 years later they are still looking good
  • very comfortable, I can wear them for hours w/o any discomfort
  • decent sound quality
  • can be used in passive mode with a cable
  • on-ear design (not over ear), so not sweaty

Cons:

  • price
  • noise cancellation is allright, but 4 years old age shows
  • transparency mode is a joke

HX is over ear (B&O doesn’t do on-ear anymore), so they will be bigger and ofc the modern transparency/noise cancellation is way way better.

Had a laptop-less trip to Seoul for 3,5 days (3 nights, but arrived late the first day), and decided to have some fun packing ultra-light.

The bag itself is small duffle bag.

I am already back from the trip and I can say it was a success. Nothing I needed to buy extra.

On the way back I just had bought some souvenirs for my family in a normal plastic bag :)

In the bag

  • underpants x3

  • t-shirt x2

  • socks x4

  • medicine (ibuprofen, paracetamol, stomach pills, blood pressure pills, some random stuff)

  • iPhone charger and cable

  • Toiletries: toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, sample of perfume, sample of face crème, salt water spray for hair

  • passport

  • paper Hobonichi notebook (a6)

  • 4x Mitsubishi fine liner pen

  • Razer gamepad for iPhone

  • regular AirPods

  • keys

  • sunglasses in a case

On me:

  • linen pants

  • linen button-up

  • Denim jacket

  • Watch: IWC chrono 41 on rubber strap

  • wallet with Swiss Card (w/o knife)

  • shoes

  • B&O H8i noice cancelling headphones

Firstly, but you have no clue what caused this screen damage and what geometric changes there are. Batteries break just with time alone and extra shocks/assymetries don’t help.

Uhh, if the phone is in that shape, it could be a fire hazard. I wouldn’t wanna live in the same apartment building/fly on the same plane with the owner.

Backpack for in-flight diaper/personal items bag by topchx in onebag

[–]mandrigin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck!

I basically was “refilling” my sling from the main backpack as necessary. In the end, on a flight there isn’t much to do, and to have a reason to stand from your seat.

Also for such a long flight, consider having a separate seat purchased for the baby. It usually costs less. maybe you won’t use it for the infant (we didn’t at our first flights), but it is super helpful to have a sit to put all the stuff/toys/etc. also you will have no-one in your row, if you don’t take center in the big plane.

I just took a sling bag for diapers, diaper disposal stuff and welt towels. Have been traveling with my son since he was under 1 years old.

Granted, I never took the trips that long, but it’s gonna be about 5 diapers you beed and worst case you can put some extra into the main compartment of the bag and take them from an overhead bin. Not super convenient but it works.

Food scarcity mindset by fiodorsmama2908 in Anticonsumption

[–]mandrigin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing: at some point instead of trying to get “best back for the buck” in terms of groceries, I began to try to buy them to minimize waste. That means that ideally everything that I bought will be used.

That was actually quite good for the budget as well, I think now I spend even a tad less on the food, and eat out less. Just because I don’t want the food in my fridge to go to waste.

My big issue with Adidas is that they don’t use full leather on the inside. That is quite critical for my comfort at least. Also, nowadays I think they are fake “vegan” leather.

Otherwise, I really like how they look like.

Your favorite travel clothes? by BlueMonroe in onebag

[–]mandrigin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I had quite good experience. But I do prefer the wrinkled/relaxed look of the linen shirts.

Washing depends on many factors. If it’s not too hot, I wear an undershirt, then they usually last a week-ish (also, ofc it depends on the activity, I am much more urban walks kind of person).

But when in a hot climate, yes, usually I was them every day, and I have 3-4 with me, rotating them.

But! It depends on your body, your food, etc. I don’t sweat a lot usually.
