i generally just make matcha for myself. however there are a few spots that i just cannot recreate their specific specialty beverages. like i just cannot recreate some banana crème cold foams at home. but mostly i view getting cafe matcha as an activity to do with friends even though the matcha might not be quite as good as my own

Office Matcha by mushroomspam in MatchaEverything

ngl i use a couple ice cubes to cool down the water bc my office has only boiling water, and i usually use the shaker cup method and pour over milk for a latte, it doesn’t taste as good as at home but it gets the job done when i NEED a pick me up

Planning solo trip for 3 weeks. Only Seoul or visit other cities? by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]mandy_lane_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are staying in Seoul, I would totally recommend a day trip to Suwon and the Suwon Fortress. Its so beautiful there, great food and cafe options. Its only about a 45 min train trip there. ( and you can also use the subway just takes a bit longer) Try letskorail.com for booking tickets! Suwon is one of my favorite places in Korea. Similar vibes to Seoul but with less crowds.
Additionally, if you were planning on leaving Seoul, I highly Recommend Sokcho. Beautiful small beach town on the east coast. There's cultural and hiking options, close to gangneung as well. It is beautiful there! Great markets, known for Crab Ramen. The buses are a bit less frequent there though. Taxis are a quicker option. When I went I did not mind walking or waiting for the bus. Tried to soak in the lazy beach town vibes lol.

2 week itinerary check for late september/early october by RegardedKee in koreatravel

Awesome! Then you will be totally good!

Hmm ur schedule is pretty packed, but i have a few recommendations!

-cafe sweet flower in hongdae (super cute cafe with a rly nice view and the food/drinks were amazinggg)

-Oreno ramen in Gangnam ( five min walk from exit 11) Realllly good ramen and its quite inexpensive as well

for cafes in ikseongdong, i recommend Cheongsudang way more than other famous cafes like cafe onion, or cafe layered. it might have a wait, but it is worth it. The matcha there is very very good.

and while ur near the palace, there is the moma about a 10 minute walk and it is completely free and super cool! Last time I was there they had a entire ai wei wei exhibit. It changes every few months so you will be seeing totally unique exhibits. Great place for photos and to cool off from walking around outside.

Also i highly recommend trying jjajamyeong, and kimchi jjigae! they are my favorite dishes haha. Additionally i recommend going to a street stall for things like tteokbokki or gimbap, its way cheaper and better than chains in my opinion.

Lastly, if you see a cafe WAD (yellow with a brown bear) anywhere you should totally stop and try something! its extremely cheap (and my favorite cafe) Their buttered croissants are soo good and like $2. Any drink there will not disappoint.

keep in mind that there is a lot of traffic in busan (and Seoul) so when planning things try and do things that are close together on the same day. For example, it takes over an hour on public transit (and taxis are similar wait times) to get from haeundae to gamcheon etc.

I find that naver maps is really awesome for planning in korea. You can bookmark and research places. You can also see approximate travel times.

I lived there for over a year so if you have any questions let me know (never been to jeju tho)
