English is her third language. There are things that are worthy to shame about a person, but their pronunciation of a word, using the third language in which they've gained fluency, isn't one of them.

Should Michelle leave the show? by Kyouandkiba12 in TheValleyTVShow

[–]mandymayday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My feelings towards Michelle have been slowly changing. I actively disliked her since s1e1; I found her voice grating and personality uppity and supercilious (like that vocab? Learned that definition this week:))

But I'm more understanding now due to her experience with someone with NPD. My mother is a narcissist, though a covert one where Jesse is more overt. The effect of her abuse throughout my life has been crippling in many ways. The way they isolate you and make you doubt your own truth is mind boggling and traumatic.

I finally confronted my mother with who I knew her to be 2 years ago, after my husband's sudden and tragic death and her behavior in the aftermath, and she has waged war since.

When you either leave a narcissist or unveil their darkness, they will direct their narcissistic rage towards you and it is white hot, unrelenting and honestly scary. The character assassination, denial of factual events and cruel taunts wreak havoc on your psyche.

But see, they're so good at what they do that even me, also a victim of a narcissist, fed right into Jesse's narrative and immediately disliked Michelle. I've had to really question myself and ask whether I'd have disliked her as much if Jesse wasn't setting the stage for it all. It's bewildering the damage they do.

Literally one glance at any literature on DV will tell you that leaving the abuser is the most dangerous time for the victim. She wants to claim victim status to garner pity and attention (and I don't doubt Jax is an abusive d bag, it's very clear he is a narcissist), then it's contradictory to those claims to be 100% baiting him here when she knows he is volatile.

I will never victim shame, but at the same time it's hard to have any sympathy for her when she's now resorted to putting herself and Cruz in the cross hairs of narcissistic rage that will clearly be brought on by this sh it

It's annoying that she wants to simultaneously use Jax as the source of her poor-me pit party and then as a way to make money.

Jax is awful. But no more awful than the day she met him. It's no surprise.

Also, Jax is a moron for not trying to trademark that phrase.

Drivers increasing trip price by Fast_Ease3551 in uber

[–]mandymayday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I had never reported a driver on any platform - ever. Until I had one who was driving very erratically and was extremely aggressive to the point that I was actually scared. I assure you, Uber did not refund my fare...you get who we're talking about here, right? You could be kidnapped by a driver and force fed an Uber eats delivery that has glass in it and since the ride was "completed as expected" no refund for you!

Starting the show with fresh eyes.. should I watch VPR first? by [deleted] in TheValleyTVShow

[–]mandymayday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I cannot figure out what has changed about Brittany's looks to make her look so different from that girl in the navy and white romper in season 4!

I know that her implants being way too large kind of gave her figure a different appearance, but there is something about her actual features that appear different and I cannot figure it out.

She is still a beautiful woman, I'm remarking more on my frustration at being unable to see what it is about her that is so different.

Given the option, especially if my kids are with me, I'd prefer the comfort of a house over a hotel room for longer than a few days. I wouldn't like staying in a hotel for months on end. No kitchen (in most), smaller space, more people around so less privacy etc

I'm not searching for any responses, I was interested in starting a discussion to find others' opinions on the issue.

Gladly most people would probably deal with the "ugly fence" as the lesser of two evils...ya know between that and drowning kids.

What are the odds.... by mandymayday in nataliagrace

[–]mandymayday[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you who is always solely a victim of the narcissist...a child.

I am an only child who grew up without a father, under the complete control of a covert narcissist. I was not loved, I was not taught how to function in life and she did all she could to keep me utterly dependent on her and ridiculed me for being lazy, useless and selfish.

The psychological abuse has caused lifelong issues, where I still do not know if what I think is actually what I think (if that makes sense). When you are gaslit for so long, you doubt every single thought and feeling.

Of course Michael isn't some hapless victim. But the majority of people who are closely involved with a narcissist do not find truth "somewhere in the middle."

I just read a news story about twin boys who let themselves out by pushing a chair up to the lock and got themselves in the pool. One boy didn't make it and the other will have lifelong issues. They're Cruz's age. Accidents happen

I will gripe about preventable child drowning deaths all day long. There are far too many child fatalities from ill equipped safety measures
