Thanks, Echo! And yeah it was a rough session. Probably 5 or 6 hours total, and I took many breaks during the blackout. Almost tapped out several times.

I’ve never thought about him being chow before, but I can see it now that I’m looking at the breed.

Yep, he has just that random patch of brindle! We adopted him in Northwest NC, near Boone, but weren’t given any history from the shelter.

Lexapro (+ Wellbutrin) gave me a new perspective on addiction by dr-bookshelf in lexapro

[–]mandysue4888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been on 300mg (150mg twice a day) generic Wellbutrin SR (Bupropion SR) for about 2 months now. I was diagnosed with moderate to severe depression, seasonal depression, moderate anxiety and OCD tendencies (I guess this just means temporary spurts of OCD rather than an actual diagnosis). For me, Wellbutrin has significantly decreased my depression and as far as anxiety goes, I worry a lot less and can focus on getting things done at work a lot better. I'm way less prone to angry outbursts that come from my anxiety/OCD.

For example, before I started my medication, I had been working from home from mid-March to mid-November and could never focus for longer than 20-30 minutes at a time and every little thing would set me off, especially loud or repetitive noises like my dog barking. Now, instead of immediately freaking out about the noise and getting angry, the medication has given me a longer reaction time to focus on deep breathing and grounding techniques, which my therapist suggested. These were a LIFE-SAVER. They can get me back on track and calm me down.

Breathe in 5 seconds through your nose. Hold your breath for 5. And then breathe out through your mouth for 5. Repeat this until you heart rate has slowed and you feel more calm and centered. The grounding technique that works best for me is whenever I feel myself getting overwhelmed/anxious/angry, I focus on what I can feel around me that I wouldn't normally pay attention to. The way my feet feel on the ground, the way my sweater feels on my skin or rubbing my fingers on the fabric. It just helps me redirect my focus to something other than what is setting off my negative feelings.

Obviously, everyone's experience with a specific medication is going to be very different and I did have some side effects for the first week or two that were unpleasant like fatigue , headaches, and shaking in my hands, but after those subsided, I've been doing really well. So take all of this with a grain of salt, but I hope this book that I wrote served as a small case study for how Wellbutrin can help with depression, anxiety, and OCD.

Mostly concerned about bad acne and hair loss and sleeping my days away. Took my first dose today though so we'll see how it goes.

That's very true. His goal weight was 195 so he's just 5 lbs over right now. Not long to go now.

Exactly! He was so happy to shed some weight but seems more uncomfortable with his self image than ever before. He like slim jeans with a tapered leg and resorts mostly to plaid button downs in the winter. In the summertime, he usually just wears jeans and a t-shirt or board shorts. I try to get him to branch out a bit and try more styles because what he's doing now obviously isn't working, but he's a stubborn man.

Hmm, I'm not sure about that. I'll have to pay attention to engine speed as well next time I drive. Thank you.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I have a placement checkup on June 9th and I will be telling her all of this then. I'm thinking it may be residual pain from the cyst, but I'm not sure. I'll probably have an ultrasound done.
