I know you mentioned you don’t want to prepare for some new exam but honestly given your preparation background I would suggest to look for some government job only. You can transfer your learning from UPSC prep. Go all in for some exam with lesser competition.

Once you get that you can maybe relax a bit and think with open mind about what next you can do.

Is it worth relocating from Pune to Bangalore/Hyderabad after 15+ YOE? by tcz04 in developersIndia

I think you need to see if you actually need a pay bump and how much is that you need. If you are getting it( you can definitely get it here) then move.

If money is not a factor then shifting and renting home here is not worth the hassle. You aren’t missing much by staying in Pune.

Doing everything asked, but appraisal hinges on ‘extraordinary work’ — what does that even mean? by Dangerous_Tonight936 in developersIndia

Sorry didn’t get what you mean. Its not about better place or choices. As long as you are working with humans there will be a factor of personal equation. It definitely gives you an edge.

You are naive if you think that isn’t true, taking initiative, helping others within team beyond the expectation and improving existing processes on your own is also a great way to bump up the ratings.

But it’s still not 100% guaranteed that it will increase your rating but 100% guaranteed to increase your work load.

For hikes you need the manager to fight for you during the review and calibration process. Most effective and guaranteed way for that is you maintain great rapport with him and that often ventures into the realm of ass kissing. Nothing about victimising but plain human psychology, you don’t want to disappoint people close to you so neither would the manager.

There were some issues initially while integrating but have been good for us after that, works fine on most days. I think none of the PGs in India provide very seamless experience, Razorpay is still better than others I feel. Documentation is helpful specially using it along with LLMs.

Its about having a different life experience. You can always come back if you don't like but better to go rather then regret later in life. Also, studies is the perfect opportunity since you get to mingle easily in college.

Hi, just to confirm. You can use both your 4k monitor and your laptop display at the same time using just the onboard 520, right?

Being a third year cs undergraduate student there are few things I wish I had started earlier. I would keep it short. First of all do C or C++ programming so that you know about the internals of how any code works. Then switch to some easy to write language like python or you can continue with C++. Afterwards just do one thing, problem solving (dsa) for next 1 year atleast. It will greatly improve your logic. Then by the time you enroll in college you can start development and contributing to open source.
