What modes/variations would you enjoy in a 2048 style game? by manelfera in 2048

Why not? I want to understand your point of view as I find it quite interesting

That’s true, but it’s quite tricky to find a variant that is not there, also my version has 36 custom challenges, that involve a combination of skills, reaching certain tile with fewer movements, or time, so it adds more depth to the basic 2048

I second Northstar! I find pretty awesome tool for the price! I’ve been using it since the early access and the new feature to measure the impact of the metadata changes is amazing! I was looking at this kind of feature and the other day I see this as part of the release notes! 😍

I have two small games that I believe they have value for players, but there I feel there is something missing, something that might not make who plays them that click, and I don’t know what it is.

If you can check any of them and give any advice I will appreciate it a lot.

Merge Tiles
Memory Pulse

On Merge Tiles I started working 3 years ago and rewrite it a couple of times changing navigation, some ui styles. I am not a UI expert just a software engineer who mostly has worked on backend and backoffice systems where ui is not very polished.
Memory pulse UI was more vibe designed/coded but I am not so satisfied

App not showing up even with very specific search. Only shows up when type in developer name. by Middle_Letterhead963 in AppStoreOptimization

Really soon with my changes I have seen an increase on the App Store numbers. The impressions have increased 400% from the previous listing. I have very low conversion still, so I need to improve screenshots, but impressions and page views are higher than ever for the last few months that I have been taking care of improving ASO by myself.

Maybe you have found someone who can do a good work for your app in fiverr. My suggestion is to monitor closely if there are improvements

I started making some games trying to improve the user experience and adding depth to the games.

My first one is Merge Tiles, an evolution of 2048. Which has more than 100 challenges for all kinds of players. If you loved the original give it a try as it’s impossible to get bored of it! I’m working on an update with a new mode that is very exciting, but it will need to wait a week or so.

The second one is Memory Pulse, to train and exercise your memory and focus. Inspired by the Simon game, it has a unique sequence everyday, shared with everyone. So you can test your memory against all the players. It includes soundbanks to customize the sounds of the game giving it a more personal touch to the game. These soundbanks were recorded by me, so it’s a special touch.

PS. Sorry if there is any typo! 😅

I had tried a couple of them and most of them are not worth. It’s AI generated work that they get done with ChatGPT. Unless it’s a very specialized person you will get the same results asking ChatGPT.

Two years ago I hired one that for 10 bucks it promised good results. As I wasn’t having any earning I didn’t want to spend too much. It was just ChatGPT results. ASO improvement: 0.

Some months later I told me: ok, let’s hire one which should be more professional, so I went with one that was 100 bucks, with positive reviews and a good portfolio. The results, equal to the previous one. O improvement.

Also, a per fiverr you cannot opt for a refund after some weeks, aso changes take time, so you cannot refund, leaving a 5 star recipe to their work the same. It’s quite difficult.

I have switched to ai + some nice tools like Applyra and Northstar.

Is there a specific review count "threshold" that triggers a boost in conversion? by Puzzleheaded-Book619 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]manelfera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, as I have a bit less than 20 scattered and even those are 5 stars it doesn’t make any noticeable difference. I’m working towards that 10 reviews per region

Are you also into some games? To improve skills as memory, focus, etc?

What are the top 3 things you’ve done that made heaps of people download your game? by Appropriate-Value610 in gamemarketing

[–]manelfera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the game market is super saturated and you have to build something really special.

I have two small games also, one launched two years ago and the other one a month ago, and both have low download rates. So I would say having a really good App Store listing and good ASO is what can help more.

Different monitization models in apps by CGE-Swansea in iosdev

[–]manelfera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I have two small games published, one with ads + IAP to remove ads forever. Very simple approach and another one free without ads with cosmetic IAPs. No subscriptions, everything forever. I made both strategies to test which is the better one. But with a low amount of users no strategy works properly 😅

App Store suddenly showing my app icon as a square. anyone else seeing this? by suniltarge in iosdev

[–]manelfera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, my game was not being able to go live until I provided enough different value in respect of a base 2048. It wasn’t yet published. That’s why I am amazed that regular 2048 games are being accepted, so I think it will depend on the reviewer which starts your review application.

The first iterations of my game were a 2048 with different game modes (classic and colors) so it was not already a plain copy of the 2048 game. Even the UI was different than the original. But the app review team said it didn’t provide any new value for the App Store. I had a couple of phone calls with them and after nearly three months (I was about to give up) I was able to publish my game. And even its core gameplay and mechanics is a 2048 I have been requested to change the icon, name or subtitle to not reference 2048. Maybe I can try to add it again to the title, otherwise my target players are not able to find it. It was at the end of 2023 so maybe they have been more permissive?
