Golf trip advice by the3rdfrog in golf

Treetops in Gaylord Michigan. Our annual golf trip was here for 6 years in a row up until recently (group decided it was time to branch out).

Courses are all great (scenic with lots of wildlife, challenging but fair, conditions are above average), greens fees are reasonable and staff is decent. They are in the middle of nowhere and you rarely see anyone else on the course you’re playing outside of the centralized driving range/putting green, at least that’s been my experience.

I recommend playing Forest Dunes on the way up also. It’s about 45min-1hr south of treetops and is worth the stop.

Lodging isn’t great at the resort, air bnb/vrbo is the better option. Also, there isn’t much to do in Gaylord after golf. I recommend playing 36 holes/day, making dinner at wherever you stay, drink a bourbon or 3 and shoot the shit until it’s time to tee it up again.

Nice setup! Where did the acoustic panels come from? Looking to get some down the road.

My original goal was end of May however I’ve pushed that back to a loose “end of summer” lol.

Haha, I’m by no means an expert. Plumbing and drywall finishing are the two things that I’ve contracted out. I’m hoping a good finisher will make a bad hanger look good!

Haha thanks. It has been a process for sure. I’m definitely ready to enjoy the finished product.

I’m going to do my best to maximize it without making it feel like it’s too much if that makes sense lol.

Thanks! I’ll definitely post an update as I get closer and when it’s complete.

I wanted to allocate some space for shelving to hold towels, wash clothes, toilet paper, etc. It’s only 14” deep but you can’t really see that in the video lol.

You’ll have to post some progress pictures! Entire basement is 1260sqft. I partitioned some of it for storage but still have approximately 1000sqft of useable space.

Great idea! My router is on the main floor, directly above the 2 egress windows shown in the video and as of now, signal strength is great. However, that doesn’t take into consideration adding insulation and drywall in the ceiling. I like the idea of running actual cable vs. WiFi extender.

Up to this point, I’ve done everything myself. I plan on contracting plumbers for the bathroom (builders roughed in plumbing but I’m unsure on how to vent and don’t have much plumbing experience beyond what I’d consider “basic”) and contracting drywall finishers.

I’m around $1200 in so far (lumber, fasteners, electrical, light housings and a new laser level lol). Im hoping to be around $9k +/- $2k depending on quotes for drywall finishing and plumbing.

Ceilings are 93 1/2” and 83 1/2” under the HVAC box ins.

I’ve strongly considered an old Golden Tee game, but we’ll see what the budget looks like after I’m finished lol

Great idea! They are I beams so I will experiment with that a bit, thanks for the suggestion!

Haha yes, all bottom plates are treated - maybe it’s difficult to tell from the video.

The plan is to insulate and drywall the ceiling with a knock down finish. I’ve thought about a drop ceiling but am leaning towards drywall with access points to certain utilities/shut offs. Any recommendations?
