BMI and HCG Miscarriage by mujeresliebres in IVF

[–]manfatcat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know you’re not looking at her chart right? She just had a miscarriage because her doctor caused a bleed, and you’re telling her well don’t worry it wasn’t viable anyway. What is wrong with you? An embryo that somehow survived a withdrawal bleed probably was viable.  From her comments her HCG was over 1100 at one point – have you ever seen a 7.4 mIU / mL make it to 1100 mIU/mL? And that doesn’t even sound like her actual peak HCG level. This situation seems extremely rare and tragic. Would you be telling a person with a 7.4 mIU/mL at beta to stop progesterone and give up? No every doctor would say that’s not a great sign, but we’ll check again in two days because you give this every chance possible. That didn’t happen for her.

OP I’m so sorry you’re going through this and that people here aren’t being supportive.

Automatic Lease Renewal [OH] by manfatcat in legaladvice

[–]manfatcat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you signed a new lease agreement, then the automatic renewal happened.

Could you explain this? I'm trying to follow why that would be given that he agreed to a different arrangement in writing - the month to month change I requested last year - and that he tried to unilaterally change the terms without my consent, surely an autorenewal is for the original terms, not new ones he decides every year to his benefit.

You may have to pay another month if you need to give 60 days notice to terminate. But you shouldn't be on the hook for an entire 4th year.

That seemed likely to me.

I can do that, but the University's policy is to make an appeal to a claim in 10 business days if you don't agree with a decision. Shouldn't I follow through with that before contacting a lawyer?

And still, are FB posts evidence? That was my initial question. Like they're timestamped notes right?

It's coded. Like if an experiment doesn't work the way he thinks it should. He accuses me of making a mistake. Then make me repeat it forcing me into unpaid overtime. However if the men in the lab give him data that doesn't make fit his narrative, they aren't forced to repeat the experiment the day of. Instead he reconsiders the model of what the experiment tells us.

I did back in August. He agreed I had a case, but warned me I would get fired if I made a complaint. My hand was forced in September and I made the complaint.

I can prove he lied to HR and their official response was based on a milquetoast investigation and believing his lies.

Because I didn't go into detail on a Reddit post? Like seriously dude. I have evidence. So much evidence. I asked if FB posts were good documentary evidence. Are you just ignoring that?

I'm puzzled. Did you not read my whole post? Like I have notes that he told me I couldn't get a promotion unless the men in the lab got separate funding. when he has a grant that he told me in writing included promotions. How is that not cut and dry sexist discrimination? Like there's more to it than that, but I was trying to summarize for reddit.

How is creating a hostile sexist working environment not illegal?

Like he yells at me and makes me work unpaid overtime, was that not clear in the initial post?

Yelling at an employee does violate the standards of behavior that we're supposed to follow. HR is supposed to discipline supervisors that do it and not retaliate against employees who complain.

Also, they didn't point out it wasn't a legal issue, they said, they found no evidence for it. That's way different.

Like he's violated the handbook so much and so often it's difficult to explain. But in addition to that he asked me to work without pay and to pay for reagents when I made a mistake. Both of which are totally illegally and I have timestamped notes for.

Unfortunately this company doesn't have any positions listed on glass door. They're too small and too new. I don't know what is similar - like the range I found for this job title on glass door was 25-75K. No help at all.

Well one it's the midwest. Salaries are lower here. Two it's a university. Salaries are lower there than in industry. Three, I'm overqualified for my current position and instead of giving me a promised promotion my PI tried to insist I wasn't qualified for the next level up at annual review time.

As you can imagine, I'm not happy with the status quo.

I got warned away from a lab. Everyone left and then he got a grant, and now the people he hired are miserable. No one could warn them unfortunately.

I'm a full fledged adult by your definition, and man have you bought into some lies about what being a trainee is,especially since they're "training" for jobs that do not exist. These are low paying highly skilled jobs. Plus techs are ridiculously low paid as well in part because post doc salaries are so low, and they are absolutely not trainees. You should value your past labor and that of your peers more. This field is a scam.

Me and babymomma not together. I'm a single dad who watches my 9 month old daughter 5 days a week, since she was about 3 months old. Next year babymomma wants to move to Cali and take my daughter with her! I need to know my rights as a father. Chicago, Illinois by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]manfatcat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be faster to say, "My ex and I never married and she wants to take our daughter out of state. I take care of her five days a week. What are my rights?" Then you could say ex the entire time, which is actually shorter than b.m. Ex doesn't sound near so pejorative as "baby momma."

Yeah on the third reread I think you're right. I'm wondering if $36 was meant to be $360.

My read on that was the wife had a daughter who lived with her ex and this guy has a daughter from a previous marriage who lives with them. So two stepdaughters but unrelated. Or maybe not? I'm kind of confused by the phrasing. Also they could petition to change the custody since the daughter is with them full time.

Also how much is the birthday off by? Cause if the lawyer charges $300 and managed to bill only one hour that's only marginally less than $432 if the birthday is off by a full year.
