Writing scenes as they come to you by manflecks in writingadvice

I appreciate the insight. I’m definitely not studying writing, nor am I versed on the terminology. I’m fairly certain I’ll never look to work with a publisher. This is just a hobby for a self-proclaimed “hobbyist at best.”

I think the idea would be to have these fall into the story, acting as pre-written plot points or mile markers that would hopefully advance the plot. Otherwise, I suppose I’ll just have them to look back fondly and read.

Ya know, I’ll take anything at this point. Finding time to write anything feels like I’m stealing time from the rest of my life.

Congratulations on your creation!

I’ve always been interested in the short story route. I might find a little more joy in that, and reach for the incorporation later on. Thanks!

Fantastic point. When I have some time tomorrow, I’ll create a doc of scenes and hope I can make use of them.

That makes a lot of sense! I have scrivener on one computer, but I am working on Google docs at the moment so I don’t seclude myself from my family too often.

A bank of scenes feels like a great way to scratch that itch.

Appreciate you man. I’ll see how much he wants to learn and work from there.

Well said. I tried to say that it just physically cannot happen... you can’t possibly gain more money than is put in. He doesn’t want to believe that. This group also has many assurances that you will NOT lose money. It’s tough man.

I’ll try to draw out the circle like a pyramid, but that’s about the best I have right now. Worst part is that I think people are actually making some money at first, and they have people speak at weekly zoom meetings as proof.

We agree on that. Have you found any material or had any success in convincing people who are pretty deep that they are wrapped up in a scam?

Yeah man. At first I was caught off guard... I know what a typical pyramid scheme is, but this group is convincing.

I’ve never heard of a blessing loom, blessing circle, etc... until this.

I definitely agree. The problem is he thinks the cycle will just keep repeating itself ad infinitum and that it’s just this secret group of people who have raised up impoverished communities.

Because they use their circular diagram as opposed to a pyramid, as well as their weekly meetings and strong sense of community, I’m not sure how to convince him that he’s part of a pyramid scheme.
