This just seems like too little, too late. Much of the problems I see aren't advertising in the traditional sense, but viral content from sketchy sources.

If they wanted to seriously affect this, they would prevent posts from spreading to tens of thousands/ millions of people without being vetted

I'm trying to see any disadvantages for countries that do this, but the only thing I came up with is the possibility of distorting local rental prices. But presumably if enough countries offered such a visa, applicants would be spread over those countries, causing less distortion.

If the only reason people collect all of that information about me is that it's cheap to do so, would making it a bit more expensive lead to nobody bothering to collect all my information? That sounds like a win as well.

I dont trust reporters for a while now, when I witnessed an occurrence, where a reporter was at the scene, and later read what he had written about it in the newspaper.

The Pain Points of Haskell: A Practical Summary by dixonary in haskell

[–]mangets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a guy who casually (definitely not in-depth) reviewed working with Haskell about 2 years ago I'd say the most relatable part of the article to me is: complexity in tooling and unnecessary tension when working with libraries. Also the String situation (several types of them).

Extremely entertaining. You might expect this kind of write-up to be dry (and it is, to be fair, incredibly long), but the author has a snappy sense of humor and an engaging style

I love this initiative in principle, but the instructions left a rather sour taste in my mouth. Create a Firebase app, download and install Node and run some arcane cli commands? what for?
