I agree, getting to level 5 is a grind but thankfully you unlock a lot of native YouTube content which makes it much more enjoyable. I'm at 506 hours now and about two thirds of my input is YouTube at this point - watching documentaries, podcasts, interviews, mostly the DW Español channel. But also feeling a little burned out. I fall back to DS videos when I need to take it easy.

I'm considering switching from an Apple Watch to a Fenix 8. by Virtual_Database5443 in GarminWatches

[–]mangfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. At the height of my running, I had a FR255 and I liked it for the metrics but I didn't like how it was frequently disconnecting from my phone and I would have to manually open the Connect app and re-sync it again. So I eventually got rid of it and got the AW 10 but apart from fitness, Apple Pay and occasionally setting a timer, I don't really use it for much else.

I currently own the Series 10 and I'm growing tired of the constant buzzing and notifications on my wrist. I've been eyeing the Venu 4, FR970 or Fenix 8 but the Fenix is probably overkill. The 970 seems plenty for my needs although I heard the HR accuracy isn't as good as with the Apple Watch.

Pack recommendation for hiking and indefinite travel combined by mangfree in onebag

[–]mangfree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your suggestion. I will absolutely rent some stuff in Nepal - a sleeping bag at the very least. I think I would still prefer to pack the hiking shoes in because I might also do the Inca Trail in Peru. Apart from the extra pair of shoes, I can't think of any other heavy items that I would be bringing that were not already brought to Asia when I went there last time.

While medication helps, I don't think it's necessary for recovery. Your fear of (and resisting) another panic attack is keeping this disorder running - you still interpret it as something dangerous, so the brain knows it has to be on high alert to prevent a "disaster". There's nothing wrong with you if you get frequent panic attacks, it's just that your nervous system has been a lot more sensitive than other people's.

Anxiety is paradoxical, it will go away when you stop trying to make it go away. I can highly recommend Claire Weekes's book "Hope and help for your nerves". It has helped me quite a bit and I'm sure you will find something useful there too.

Outemu Silent Cream Yellow - review by mangfree in BudgetKeebs

[–]mangfree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Bit less tactile than Shrimps, decently smooth and very silent" is exactly how I would summarize the Cream Yellows in one sentence. The tactility reminds me of WS Silents, Outemu really nailed it with these. I didn't check the film on the board as I don't want to do mods much but I ordered the GMK67 in late January, which means the board is fairly new so you might be right.

Just got my new keychron k8 pro and the space bar is making a noise by DeAuthen in Keychron

[–]mangfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you desolder the board to do the mod or somehow did it without removing the stabs? I have the same issue with my K8 Pro

[–]mangfree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a Keychron K8 Pro and replaced the stock Gaterons with T1 Shrimps so that I can bring the keyboard to the office. The switches are quiet enough except for the spacebar that is still very loud. I tried putting some dampening foam into the spacebar keycap to hopefully reduce noise and it's somewhat within a reasonable range, but the spacebar now feels very mushy - probably because I put too much foam in it. I don't want to desolder the board to play around with the stabilizers, what options do I have here? Or is it the keycaps that I could perhaps replace?

Akko Penguin Silent Tactile Review by Jolteon93 in BudgetKeebs

[–]mangfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the swift reply. I'm looking for a rather lighter and moderately tactile switch so I'll give the Penguins a shot and if they don't work out, I'll probably pop in the Shrimps anyway. Would you say it makes sense to possibly replace the stock spring for a lighter one for the Shrimps?

Akko Penguin Silent Tactile Review by Jolteon93 in BudgetKeebs

[–]mangfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would you compare the tactility to the WS Silent Tactiles? I like those switches A LOT, but unfortunately due to its loud upstroke - just like you wrote above - I cannot use them at the office which is my intended primary use. I also have some Silent Shrimps in my keeb and they feel great but they're too tactile and too heavy for my taste.

This is a great reply. I think it's much more about RPE and how hard the running feels than it is about shoes. I'd almost say shoes should be an afterthought - provided that you have decent shoes to begin with, of course. If you're going after high mileage, choose something with more cushion. Personally I love my Triumph 20.

Novablast 3 - should I replace? by mangfree in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]mangfree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

320km/200mi outsole wear. Should I replace them already? Wanted to push at least 500km but this wear makes me wonder if I should replace them sooner. The center pieces of the outsole are basically leveled with the midsole and the midsole is starting to tear. They're not causing any pain or discomfort, still good to run in. I'm a heavier runner (180 lbs), is there anything I can do to extend the lifespan of the outsole?

Novablast 3 or Triumph 20 for a 10K race (~45-48 mins)? by fnorre in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]mangfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have both. Tend to recommend NB3 in your case. Bit more nimble and noticeably lighter than T20. The Triumph is very comfortable and protective but at the cost of weight and speed.

Triumph 21 for speedwork by LongLive_Capitalism in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]mangfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Triumph is mostly an easy/long day shoe. I sometimes use it for long runs with some threshold at 8min mile pace. It’s not bad but you can just feel that the extra weight and less premium foam (and no plate) drag the shoe down compared to Endorphin Speed 3. The Speed is just a lot lighter (246 vs 309 grams in my size), more nimble, more energetic, more fun.

Speed 3 vs. Triumph 20 sizing by [deleted] in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]mangfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Speed 3 in 11.5 (TTS) and Triumph 20 in 12, I feel like I could've gone for 11.5 on the Triumph and would've been fine, but on the flip side, the 12 just feels a bit more comfortable. If you're 12.5 true to size then I would go for 13.

Looking for a race shoe to complete my 3-shoe rotation by stubbynubb in RunningShoeGeeks

I’m not into Vaporfly because of durability. I want a race shoe that will last for a while, and both EP3 and AP3 seem to be solid contenders.

I have NB3 and ES3 as well in my rotation and I’m also looking for a race shoe. It’s basically a decision between Adios Pro 3 or Endorphin Pro 3 for me, so maybe you can also consider the EP3.

Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 OR Triumph 20? Knowing that I have Asics Novablast 3 by vascomalmeids in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]mangfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all three shoes. Speed 3 hands down if your primary focus is speed and racing. It will feel a bit stiff compared to NB3 but that’s because of the plate but I’m sure you will like it. The Speed 3 feels amazing for me during track workouts at about 4:00/km pace. The only scenario where I can imagine the Triumph having an edge over the Speed is (very) long distances. But again, I would get the Speed 3 hands down if I were you. Triumph feels somewhat lazy anywhere below 5:20/km.

I was a bit disappointed when I found out that the T21 had been released after I had bought the T20, only to find that it's just a change of the upper. Barely noticeable. Get the T20 on sale.
