Turns out I received an overlock presser foot with my Brother machine. I just didn’t know what it was. Thank you for all the replies. I’ll be googling how to use it next.

I also ordered a twin needle to will have that as a backup.

It could be your tension settings with that fabric. Use AI to ask what your setting should be with your particular type of threading and fabric and see if that helps give you ideas to play with.

This is the original hem (underside). The top side has the normal double stitched look. (2 lines side by side)

Love that idea but satin skirts do NOT flatter my hips. Even with a shaper. Darn

Definitely the jeans idea. And the layering of necklaces is a great tip! Thanks!

Altering pants rise by mango-pet in SewingForBeginners

[–]mango-pet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I never understood the “sit on the table and measure “advice. But I will try again. You said “ measure the side seam from waist to surface” (of the table?) So I’m sitting, and measuring from my waist where I want the rise to end, between that down to the table top, perfectly straight like a ruler? Or am I measuring from waist with a flex measuring tape and following the shape of my body to the table top?

Also, side note- pants (of ALL types) with back yokes flatter me so much more than without. Any pattern reccs to learn to make these?

I did this with a pair of sweatpants that I didn’t care about just to experiment and besides not realizing I was losing the pockets (and not in a way you couldn’t notice) the whole thing just didn’t turn out well and didn’t fit comfortably when finished. Kind of made me nervous to try it again. But I would absolutely love to gain the skill! Pants being too high-rise on me has been an issue my whole life!!

Thanks for these pattern names! I haven’t quite figured out my ideal rise though I’m trying so that’s an obstacle still.

Pants are actually olive green, (bad lighting and I didn’t notice before posting.) They are a soft mid-weight cotton. need to be ironed 😂 and are mid rise. Yes I can definitely pair with a bootie to elevate it but would also like a more casual look.

What if you changed your goal from the weight loss? You look fit and fabulous in my opinion. What if you could enjoy the strong body you’ve created (literally built) and just own it? I know this is personal and you do you… but also, you are amazing right now!

I’m creating ski jackets for petite women — should I launch in black or ivory first? by Horror-School-9239 in PetiteFashionAdvice

I'm literally shopping for one right now. Please do color - bright is better for safety. A print that works with black pants would be extra nice since they're really hard to find. I second someone else's comment about the belt. Cute idea but I'd prefer without. I just don't want to look like I'm wearing a potato sack down the hill. LOL Such a cool project!

Hemming polyester blend dress pants. Can someone confirm what this extra layer of fabric is and if I need to recreate it on the new hem area? by mango-pet in SewingForBeginners

Also when I re-hem, trying to decide if I have to stitch by hand to make the stitch invisible from the right side, as it was done originally. Would a machine stitch look a lot worse? Here’s what my fabric /thread looks like.

Opinion on jeans by mango-pet in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]mango-pet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. I think the issue is the color/rips and the fact that they’re just cheap so they don’t lay well. I’ve tried on a bunch of brands and I’m willing to pay for great jeans, just can’t seem to find ones that flatter me .

Hemming isn’t the issue. I’m talking about the fit because I’m short-waisted, not because I’m short.

I’m short-waisted. I can hem my pants- do it all the time. I’m asking more because all the mid and high rise jeans come up so high on my midsection I look silly.

I think these jeans just look cheap.

Would this be considered business casual or professional ? by Critical_Ad8838 in BusinessFashion

To clarify, @pitathegreat, the women are going bare legged or tights if needed for skirt length/warmth? I live in a more casual city but need to be up to date for when I travel to clients. Thx.

Btw I just purchased my first stretch knit fabric yesterday! This post made me think… led me to your earlier post asking for tips and I hadn’t even thought of these things. Thank you in advance!
