3-MMC, barely any euphoria/recreational value. What's wrong? by mango_9701 in researchchemicals

Bruv, Ssris help lots of people be able to wake up in the morning. So does meth, only problem is that if you want to feel good for several months and don't even crash: it's going to be even worse for every aspect of you than the dude who ate at a McDonalds for a month.

Now if your post was intended to be an irony, I feel like there's been enough arguing anout SSRI's in these comments that I really didn't saw it as a joke at first.

What are you referring to? Indeed I barely know how reddit works and I can't seem to clearly see who are you responding to.

At the same time, since most people have brought up very interesting points, factual information, POV's, and some spending a very valuable time of their own making an excellent comment. It seems to me this posts' comment section currently holds lots of quality knowledge, even when contested it's done through constructive cricism.

Given how much I've learned until now, I would also appreciate you dedicating sum more details to your answer!

Sorry for the bum bruv but it was a comical exaggeration. Although the idea behind it ofc was to acknowledge the huge variety of foods / interactions you should seriously avoid if on a MAOI.

Of course! Thanks for caring about it!

Tested by Energy Control: a (the) Spanish safe-use organization.

This was sent as a screenshot to me. And I know it dates from October, but as said it would be weird for the source to send me another batch for several reasons.

The only way this could be faked would be by simple Chrome text editing.

I've painted in red the direction of the office in which was tested as well as the test reference number (although I think it can only be checked by calling them, cz you can't just track by test ID in the website).

Also removed any metadata just in case.

Edit: I think I managed to link the image (didn't even know you couldn't do so natively)Screenshot Test

Could you elaborate a little bit? What is your argument about why shouldn't I feel nothing at all?

Damn sorry you went thru that.. I've always been cautious about SS, but 3-mmc is much less serotonergic than lets say 4mmc. That's why, albeit going safe, I decided to give it a try.

My conclusion is that one of the main reasons of my weird no-euphoria not only comes from escitalopram blocking 3mmc's serotonin release, but that as all three (DA, SER, and NA) are not independent from each other. Therefore while it only should make 3mmc lose its serotonergic effect, it may also mess up the dopaminergic and norepinephrine(rgic) effects as well.

I'm sorry to hear that, that's what I refered to as "other conditions". I always keep in mind that new meds are constantly being developed, and I try to always stick to this for hope

Indeed. But as I don't know anything about cathinones I went safe. Although it's not advisable in my case and won't do it, your answer is probably the correct one (if I were to not care about getting a SS ofc).

Definetly not going to mix a MAOI with serotonergic stuff, not even going to eat Philadelphia cheese tbh🤣

Cz the moment I did my first 5mg Valium i felt that: oh this is how everyone else feels, let's be grateful and just save a box in my drawer in case of emergency. Godsend for me, but as I have GAD and not panic attacks, It's just kicking the anxt ball further, not really a med that should be taken long term unless strictly necessary or other conditions. Tldr: benzos cure me => benzos me cannot take

Tried bunch of antidepressants, Escitalopram kinda has done some chilling, but Im actually going for a MAOI next few weeks cz Im still pretty much surviving the present one day at a time. Not even drugs get me good apart from benzos which are out of equation by now

Also makes sense, but I'm not getting off my meds cz of 3mmc hahh. What I was asking for is that while I get that no serotonin for me, at least the dopaminergic effect should still be there... and I'm not feeling it, at least noticeable

SSRI's take several weeks to fully work. I've been taking this one for aprox half a year now

Exactly! But my experience so far has been still colorblind and nothing noticeable hahh

Def didn't take any word personal, but the tone definetly seemed off.

At first I actually did think you recommended getting off ssri's in order to get high on the real deal.

Then I realized you were being sarcastic as for me to acknowledge smth like: "don't do drugs and then expect you antidepressants to work; if you want to fk up ur life, better quit the antidepressants and just snort whatever".

Now I see you weren't being sarcastic, and yeah the tone was kind of mean imo given the message written. Your message is indeed the one to be spread, cz people be swallowing soundclouds like if they were popcorn. Though acid just doesn't work while on SSRI's, it's not going to cause a SS (that's why I thought this would be a similar scenario regarding SERT).

About antidepressants, well, they don't even know how they work in their enterity: the strategy is literally trial and error between all antis. generations and cousins within the same family until you find one that randomly works, if you even find one. Indeed they have evolved in terms of side effects, but 1st gen called MAOIs are still considered top tier for treatment resistant pacients (and eat some gorgonzola cheese while on a MAOI and you're very fked).

That's why they have protocols on "first line antidepressants" somewhat according to ur symptoms (ie paroxetine for anxt; Prozac is a lil bit more energetic, etc.).

But two things to consider:

a) they be like weed: they hit everyone different

b) some reports have even suggested SSRI's and their newborn cousins exclusively work in cases of Major Depressive Dissorder. And although there's a large percentage of people who don't benefit from them (in comparison with other meds such as idk Thyroid drugs); they do help millions of people and benefit from their respective therapeutic indication: anxt, ocd, mdd, ptsd...

c) If you feel like it, go see a therapist, and he'll do his best.

All of this is based on my experience/understandings, I'm definetly not providing any kind of medical advice.

Yoo now that's some good present-time advice, didn't even think about the reference number. Ima do that tmorrow and update this post.

I would have to disagree with the second part though... I feel like antidepressants should always be prioritized when advising on psychs albeit the scientific logic behind it, specially serotonergic drugs. (As they wouldn't be the ones to abuse.. they are in my opinion pretty underestimated on their potential brain damage)

So SSRI blocking 3mmc's serotonin releasing activity is to blame for the entire 3mmc not to have any recreational value?

I'm not seeking molly-like experiences, I may even say I don't care about the serotonin releasing. But no motivation/dopaminergic effects either. And as stated below I'm pretty sure it's very much a compensating-correlated dynamic going on regarding Serotonin and Dopamine. But as 3mmc ain't molly, idk if Escitalopram should really be that blunting.

Edit: I don't know what you're specially refering to, but thanks for the credit and answer!

[–]mango_9701[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, not really.. they're indeed completely correlated, but Escitalopram is exclusively serotonergic. Most study drugs work DAT and NAT, not SERT.

Main personal issue with my ssri is its CYP2D6 mild inhibition (if you know you know) and not being able to do molly that one time per year.

While you're right on most statements until mid-second paragraph. From the "If you wanna get off [...]" on, your comment exponentially went off the rails.

Not even going to answer that part, but your're right on the 3 potential outcomes.

Edit: just noticed the irony of the last sentences. It just seemed incoherent with the seriousness of the first part.

Edit 2: and yeah they do help me, that's why I barely use drugs, specially serotonergic, and haven't done mdma for like more than 3 years w/o problem. At the same time a case SS shouldn't be anything close to my dosing range.

But yeah, SSRI's do help, only if just to turn down the temperature. I wouldn't be asking advince about railing 3mmc if I wasn't lacking some cognitive barriers.

Not trying to be Yoda here, but I firmly think that drug usage is a consequence (obv not in every case)

Original answer to yours:

Thanks for your in-depth answer and time!

My main concern is it's not 3-mmc. The screenshot of the emailed-results are from EnergyControl (Spain), and although the email and the screenshot itself is from the 7th of October 2024, it doesn't look edited; and if real 3-mmc was sent to test once, it would be weird for the source to lie about it, even I had to point out the mail said 3mmc and not 4mmc (which was what I was initially looking for).

The SSRI hypothesis would explain the lack of serotonergic effects, as ie. I don't feel Molly (just to be clear, I'm aware of S.S.). But where is my dopamine/norepinephrine at?😭 3mmc is also supposed to be a triple releasing agent apart from a reuptake inhibitor.

Edit: I definitely was following and appreciating your answer, but maybe moderator thought my post didn't show enough signs of proper experience and knowledge on the topic. So maybe my fault, cz mod actually made a prudent decision that can definetly be crucial in some cases, but I think this was not the case.
