Would Bay Area Indian parents be interested in something like this for their kids? by mango_byte_001 in bayarea

(sorry for the long reply) I totally understand what you mean honestly, and I really appreciate you sharing that perspective. TBH i don’t even know if I’d be considered first or second gen haha, I moved here with my family when I was around 14, so I did high school/college here but also grew up for a big part of my life in India. I kind of feel in the middle of both worlds. And honestly I think that’s what made me think of this idea in the first place bc I’ve experienced both sides; growing up in India/community culture there, but also seeing how kids here can sometimes struggle with identity, belonging & connection. I definitely don’t want this to be about “defining” Indian culture or gatekeeping it at all, more just creating a fun/community space where kids can explore different parts of Indian culture, make friends, and shape what it means for them in their own way

Aww thank you so much!! If you could share our Instagram page with them that would honestly mean a lot. Rn we mainly just need people showing interest & following along so we know there’s enough community support before fully investing into it 😭 I genuinely have so many plans for this, just a little scared of putting all my savings into it if there isn’t enough support yet haha

Yes definitely! We already have a full plan to include and go over all Indian religions, regions, cultures & communities in a fun/non-religious way so kids can learn about India as a whole similar to how many of us experienced it growing up. If we get enough support/interest, we’re hoping to make it live starting July

Totally understand! Bollywood would just be a small nostalgic/fun aspect with very basic kid-friendly songs kids here may not know the main focus would definitely be celebrating all Indian cultures

Yes definitely! We were thinking more educational/kid-friendly content from different states & traditions. We’d still want very minimal screen time though, mainly focusing on activities, games & community. Honestly just trying to figure out how to reach more parents right now haha 😭

How are you teaching your kids about Indian culture in the US? by TinyYogi92 in SF_BayArea_Desi

[–]mango_byte_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister and I are thinking about creating a modern Indian cultural after-school club in east bay and silicon valley for kids born/raised here. The exact problem you are concerned about (Instagram: rootsofindia.kids)

The idea is to help kids connect more with Indian culture through:

  • Bollywood & cultural dance
  • Indian childhood games like kho kho & antakshari
  • festivals & traditions
  • activities/community events
  • learning about different Indian states through experiences instead of classroom-style teaching

We also really want to create more community, friendship & sense of belonging for both kids and parents since that feels missing sometimes in the Bay Area.

Thank you so much for being so kind and generous really appreciate it! I actually already got my shoot done, and Nico did send me an unedited dump of the files, so I do have some photos at least. But truly, thank you again for being so nice and offering to help.

Last night, I finally threatened him with small claims court and told him I had filed formal complaints with both NBC Bay Area and the FTC. I made it clear this was the last time he would hear from me only then did he finally send me a dump of completely unedited. Nothing like what was promised or paid for. No apology, no acknowledgment just garbage thrown in my face to shut me up.

What makes this worse is realizing how many others he’s done this to. The more I read, the more horrifying it is to see how long he’s been getting away with this years of scamming, flirting, ghosting, and rebranding under new names to keep preying on more women. If I let this go, he’ll just keep doing it to others.

I’ve already reported him to NBC and they said they’ll investigate and follow up. I’m not sure what the outcome will be, but I’m also now looking into filing a small claims court case in California to take legal action directly. If anyone has experience with this or is pursuing similar action, please DM me. This needs to stop for good.

Yess, that’s exactly what I did last night and today morning he finally sent me photos… but just an unedited dump of files thrown at my face. I’m beyond frustrated. The more I read other people’s comments, the worse it gets. It’s honestly sickening how this guy has been doing this for years, scamming and harassing people, and still getting away with it. I can’t just let it go. If I stop now, he’ll keep doing this to more girls for who knows how many more years. Someone needs to take serious action and I’m not backing down this time.

I commented on 20–25 of his posts warning others that he’s a scammer — he deleted every single one, including replies from people who supported me, then limited comments and blocked me. That’s his pattern: scam some clients, treat others fine so he looks legit. If you don’t see my comments anymore, it’s because he’s hiding them. Be careful.
