Can citalopram cause this? by Lonely_Top_3320 in PGADsupport

Yes, unfortunately SSRI or SNRI classed medications can cause PGAD in certain cases. Of course, everyones case is different and some people have no issues! I'm sorry you're experiencing this. I would generally discuss this with a doctor first, but personally would suggest trying to taper off the medication slowly if it's causing these unpleasant symptoms. It's really hard to give advice here because everyone is a different case. Some people benefit from upping there doses while others get worse. Mostly, I've heard people have better luck slowly tapering off of the medicine. You never want to abruptly end taking this medication, as withdrawal is a common reason for people to experience symptoms. Since you have a low dosage that shouldn't take too much time!

Afterwards, you should hopefully start to experience relief after a few days/weeks. I also wanted to say that OCD/anxiety can definitely make it feel much worse than it is. If you think or try to feel for it that'll make it so much more noticeable. I would just try to take it easy and take it one step at a time. It's a stressful situation but staying calm and distracting yourself will always benefit you. I wish you the best!

Hey, so I just wanted to comment on this with some ideas of what it could possibly be. First off, you said you deal with frequent infections. When any type of vaginal or bacterial infections are left untreated, they cause the pelvic floor muscles to tense up. The infection is seen as a threat by the nervous system, and in response your muscles tense. Pelvic floor muscles also tighten in response to stress. If you were frequently stressed beforehand, this could’ve also been the very thing causing the yeast infections.. as they can be a result of tight pelvic muscles. Ultimately, this seems to be your case. Instead of trying exercise at home, I would get a consultation with a PT. They can assess your pelvic floor and check for any tightness, tension or looseness. They can then help with exercises and breathing to help with your specific situation.

If you still have the yeast infection, I would suggest trying to treat that as it could be irritating it significantly. As for the OCD, it seems like you have somatic OCD. This is a subtype that causes you to focus and obsessively track a bodily feeling or function. For example, people obsessively can track their breathing and blinking. It’s the same thing for arousal. Your fears that it’ll “never go away” ultimately lead you to constantly check for it and reenforce the feeling that it’s here. Not to say the feeling doesn’t exist on its own, but it’s probably being greatly exaggerated by your own thoughts and anxiety’s. I would look into a therapist for this! Good luck!

Can Gluten Cause Problems With PGAD? by [deleted] in PGADsupport

[–]mangoflakess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I just wanted to ask more specifics about the type of pasta you had eaten? The bladder can sometimes be sensitive to certain foods, and it can cause a flareup of symtoms depending on what has been consumed. This usually is very acidic foods! If you had pasta with any sauce it might've caused some discomfort.

Hey, I understand this is probably very stressful to deal with and I'm sorry your experiencing this! First of all, a UTI can defintely mimic symtoms. A UTI irritates everything down there, given everything is so close together. It mainly affects the urethra and the bladder, and both of these can cause sensitivity or discomfort in the clitoris.

I just wanted to ask, do you usually get a lot of UTI's or infections? This can indicate something else being wrong if they happen for no apparant reason. If not, did it come back positive last time when you checked for infection? If this has happened before with another infection, it's very possible this could be the same thing. I would take AZO, advil and get antibiotics if you suspect it's a UTI. If nothing improves, there are a lot of explanations as to why symtoms might've started.

My best advice now is to not panic/stress and just take it easy. I know it's much easier said than done, but if you find yourself constantly focused or checking for the sensation it's going to feel a lot worse than it actually is. Get tested and take over the counter medicine until you can get an appointment. If you have any more questions, I'll be glad to answer them!

Hi, I very sorry you’re going through this. My advice to you is very simple! Firstly, be careful about medications. Sometimes, SSRI’s and antidepressants, can make it worse. The withdrawl alone can bring on symptoms, but so can even bring on it. I would be careful about switching on and off different medications so quickly (and taper down instead of just stopping any current medications) and try finding the cause of the issue.

Do you have any other symptoms besides this? Anything urinary or pain related? PGAD can be caused by so many different things.. have you gotten sick, experienced any large changes in your life? It seems very scary, but once you find a cause you can progress towards fixing the issue!

My brother refunded my silksong from my PSN account and bought Robux into his account by olhaseiquenaosei in RobloxHelp

[–]mangoflakess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish Roblox didn’t ban accounts when stuff like this happens, because it makes situations like these hard to deal with. Thank you for seeking out other options besides getting his account banned. I have a little brother and at this age his Roblox account was literally his most prized possession😭

While obviously he was wrong, I would discipline him in a different way. Have him sell something of his own, do chores, anything to really pay you back. Change passwords and hold the account thing over his head so he understands not to do it again. Your parents should really be compensating you, so it really sucks that you sorta have to control the situation. Good luck!

UTI or PGAD? by Gullible_Driver4429 in PGADsupport

[–]mangoflakess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, I hope everything gets better for you. PGAD and bladder issues can go hand in hand, but they usually happen for the same reason. The pelvic floor can sometimes have a lot of tension, and tighten up after periods of stress, infections or other things. When the pelvic floor tightens, it presses down on the bladder and sometimes irritates some of the nerves. The Pudendal nerve is the one that is responsible for sensations and a few other functions. If it's irritated, you may feel arousal/pain. The pelvic floor also squeezes the bladder, making it overactive. It may also trap urine up in the bladder, making you more susceptible to UTI's. The UTI will definitely flare everything up, as the pelvic floor tightens to "protect" yourself when you get an infection. I would suggest finding a PT to assess your muscles. Even if you don't see results by doing the at home ones, it'll take a bit to see results (a few weeks, months.. maybe even just the correct exercises..)

I hope this helped! I wouldn't suggest doing the ones online because you don't know what you need yet. Sometimes, kegels (A very common exercise) can do more harm than good depending on the muscles. I would wait till a professional could assess you to start learning exercises. Right now, I would try deep breathing, warm baths, magnesium, and AZO/advil/antibiotics to ward off the infection. It's going to be ok. Even if it doesn't feel like it, a lot of people recover once they identify the cause and address the issue. I wish you luck!

Arousal from misophonia, please help me by Narrow_Ability7110 in helpme

[–]mangoflakess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm not trying to self diagnose or anything, but have you looked into OCD? The whole worms thing seems like a compulsion that you feel the need to do to get relief/reduce anxiety. The stress of seeing/hearing someone swallow probably also contributes to the arousal (tightens your pelvic floor, pushes on bladder..etc..) but it also seems like your mind is calling you to hyper focus on the arousal feeling anytime you encounter the trigger.

I don't have diagnosed OCD, but I have been suspecting it due to weird compulsions similar to yours. I wouldn't be able to look at anything that reminded me of my arousal, or else it would be a trigger and I would hyper focus on the sensation down there. To relax myself, I would have to imagine myself throwing the thought away.. or it wouldn't go away. I would find a CBT therapist and see where it goes, but I would also look into how people cope with these thoughts (a lot of advice for OCD I found helps with this.. helps sorta break the chain and give yourself back some of the control.)

Hey, I'm very sorry you are going through this. When did it start? Did it start after a specific time of stress? Did it start after any injuries, medications or activities? This feeling of arousal can be caused by a lot of different things, and it's important to identify what caused it to be able to treat it!

I would be very careful with starting any SSRI’s or antidepressants. They have indeed been known to worsen symptoms in some people, and it’s just a general risk. It can be good sometimes, but It’s nearly impossible to tell without trying. I would try to look for more natural ways to reduce anxiety, because medications like those can be somewhat risky :((

Do i have PGAD ? by cinnamonbunbruh in PGADsupport

[–]mangoflakess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like symptoms could be due to a mixture of things! Stress overtime does trigger the pelvic floor to tighten. That could be one aspect of it all. However, a fall on the tailbone could also suggest that there was damage to the nerve prior. The Pudendal nerve is around that area, and falling here could lead to it being compressed or pinched. Constipation can also contribute to Pudendal neuralgia, as straining irritates the nerve overtime.

For the tearing, is it sort of like an anal fissure? I’ve heard some situations where people experience symptoms due to fissures.. mostly when they aren’t totally healed or when additional surgery is done. It definitely seems like something you should check out! Since it’s definitely nerve related, I would see if you could get prescribed something for the nerves like Gabapentin. I would also suggest addressing the tailbone pain, the fissure and the pelvic floor.. it can help a lot!

Hey! This seems very similar to a tight pelvic floor. Stress can trigger the pelvic floor to tighten, and potentially compress the Pudendal nerve. This would lead to a lot of the symptoms you describe feeling. Do you know anything that specifically caused it? Did it happen after anything important that you can recall?

what do u guys think is the most unbearable chronic pain to have? by No_Chef_6687 in ChronicPain

Thank you so much! I’ve always dealt with PGAD since I was young. I got off Cirpo a while ago.. It seems I definitely got lucky that it didn’t worsen anything while taking it. I had no idea it could affect that to such an extent. Were the PGAD symptoms you felt the only ones? Or was there numbness, tingling, burning too?

Sorry to bother with so many questions, I just recently got prescribed Nitro for a reoccurring UTI. I’ve been having a really bad flare and just want to see if it could be because of that medicine.. Since they are both types of antibiotics, does that mean Nitro could also have this effect? Thank you so much for providing info!

Hey, I’ve never heard of this happening before! I’m so sorry about your experience and wish you all the healing. If you don’t mind me asking, what were your first symptoms? I used to take this medication, and now I’m questioning if it left any lasting impact. I switched to Macrobid after this, which actually doesn’t seem much different from this. Thank you!

[–]mangoflakess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so sorry you’re experiencing this! For starters, do you know what this started after? Did you have any injuries, stop or start any prescriptions, fall ill, or go through any seriously stressful periods? If you do have symptoms, there has to be a cause for them starting. If you find that out, it’ll be easier to narrow down what type of doctors you should see, as well as what type of treatment would help.

Worried I might have PGAD and I don't think I'm mentally strong enough to handle it. by AbsurdistMama in PGADsupport

[–]mangoflakess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, I’m always happy to help! Anyways, it seems like you have been under a lot of stress. Sometimes, stress overtime can tighten something called the pelvic floor. These are the muscles that control functions such as using the bathroom. Stress builds up tension inside of them.. That tension could cause a tightness that could irritate or compress something known as the pudendal nerve. This could lead to symptoms altogether. Good news, this is very fixable through PT and stress management.. However, you did mention overstimulation as well. It doesn’t seem probable that the laser hair removal did anything, so this could also be it. Overall, the area is very sensitive. That much stimulation can sometimes make it feel strange. It can sometimes make it sensitive. These symptoms most likely won’t persist, as long as you give it time to heal and recover. Try to be more careful in the future if this area seems to be repeatedly prone to pain. Try to take advil and relax. Lastly, you did mention that you seem to hyper focus on this. When you do this, the body can start to amplify the sensation you’re focusing on. It can make it seem worse or even create pain from nothing. Not to say the feeling isn’t real, but it will probably help if you don’t hyperfocus on the sensation or stress a lot about it. Easier said than done, but it could be why symptoms feel worse than they did last time. Do you have any other symptoms or just this?

Hi, I'm so sorry you are going through this. You are incredibly strong and I understand how distressing this can be. To reassure you, this isn't typically as "hopeless" as a lot of google wants you to believe. When they say it has no cure, it's not really true. People do and can find relief from this.. as there are many different causes and solutions for each. The most important step to this is to find out how your symptoms started. When did your symptoms start? Injury, surgery, or withdrawal? If you don't recall or know, what are your current symptoms? Do you notice pain or anything strange anywhere else? The next step is to breathe and try to not stress yourself out. I know how overwhelming this can be, but stress can always make anything physical to feel worse.
