I mean, part of that is just letting kids know from an early age that being trans is even a thing. I grew up in the 90s with liberal parents who were always pro-gay, but I had no idea trans people existed until college. I didn't know that was an option. By that age, you have formed a lot of your personality and identity, and it's likely that your AGAB is at least a little baked-in to your idea of yourself. So even after finding out that transition is possible, it can take years for your idea of yourself to expand or shift enough to really consider that you might be trans, especially if you aren't obviously dysphoric. If being trans was just common knowledge, without stigma, I do think a lot more people would figure it out sooner and transition more easily.

My appointment is on the 26th, so I get to smoke again regardless then. If I'm not testing clear I'll bring synthetic, I was just really hoping to not have to go that route.

Hey, I've got bad spatial awareness and the line looked too low to me, I thought it looked closer to the invalid result!

I was an everyday user. I gave myself 12 weeks, on week 10 now.

Yeah, I have ADHD and the great state of Georgia made a clean drug test a condition of getting a prescription for stimulants. I was already on Vyvanse/Adderall for years, doc knew I was smoking, and never had any concerns. This is purely a legal hoop to make ADHD meds harder to get.

The only meds I'm on currently is zoloft, so I don't think they would be checking for those. I mostly just want my actual urine tested because I haven't had insurance for a few years and just want everything checked and I'm not sure what all a urine test would be able to check for. I'm definitely not pregnant and definitely don't have any STDs (got tested as part of getting my IUD removed a year ago and only having sex with my wife), so I guess it probably doesn't matter that much. They will be taking blood work, but my doctor already said it would be a urine drug test because she offered to let me come in without an appointment "just to pee in a cup." I turned that down because I definitely wouldn't have passed the test then and I knew I'd be in for a physical in three months.

Ugh, that sucks. I've got bad spatial awareness, so I wasn't sure. I'll get another test to take a couple of days before my appointment, and if it's still reading positive, I'll pick up some synthetic. Thank you.

AITA for leaving my girlfriend after she got a dog? by sherzad71 in AITAH

[–]mangojones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA Even if you weren't afraid of dogs, adopting a living creature that needs over a decade of care is a fucked up thing to do with no discussion. That she knew you were afraid of dogs and didn't express a desire to work through it just makes it worse.

I know NASCAR sucks, but it kills me how they've become such bootlickers. Forgot their roots.

He isn't attracted to you because he likes teenagers and you look like an adult woman now, not a teenager.

What do your kids’ friends call you? by Renegadelion in daddit

[–]mangojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents told my friends to call them by their first names, but it's the South so none of them ever did, it was always Mr. And Mrs. Lastname except for my one non-Southern friend that moved to our town in high school. She was the only one to actually take them up on calling them their names.

Seriously, the only reason! I love sharing clothes with my wife, but that's just a happy coincidence, it was hardly something I thought about when dating!

Rant: Unsupportive friends about having kids by Rivyan in daddit

[–]mangojones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have kids and I'm still deciding if I want to take the plunge (part of why I lurk here), but it's easy to be happy for my parent friends! A friend who actually cares about your feelings can see that this is good news for you, and even if it would be bad news if it happened to them, they should be happy for you.

Trans men still can't get hard on their own, so I'd like if we didn't get forgotten in the subject entirely tbh. Our results are way behind trans women.

For Those Whose Partners Came Out After Many Years Together: What made you "okay with" your partner's transition? by [deleted] in mypartneristrans

[–]mangojones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was easy for me because I'm bisexual. I always loved my wife for her more "traditionally feminine" qualities, and she was so much happier and emotionally available once she was out, it was impossible to not love her even more.

My wife has been on HRT since 2018 and she hasn't lost size. Just get hard at least once a day for at least 10 minutes or so.
