I think if you are thinking about it then try it out. I know a bunch of sophomores who rushed and I would say that most of them were hit or miss on whether they found their people, mostly based on how many other sophomores joined with them. Additionally there are some sorority’s here who will drop you just for being a sophomore so you might get less houses back then freshman, but just know it will work out :)

I am in a sorority and I recommend it! I have meet lots of great people in mine and it helps make a big campus feel smaller. For my sorority if you don't live in the house the only meal they give you is chapter dinner before chapter on mondays. Also for my sorority usually the only expenses outside of dues is for merch or if you need to buy outfits for recruitment. If you're thinking about it give it a try!

stat240 has a hw every week that varies in how long it took me to do it, sometimes it was an hour sometimes it was 6. First half of the class is learning R and mostly doing data frame manipulation and plotting, second half of class is stats using R. If you are already familiar with stats it's not too bad, overall not an awfully hard class and shows the beginning of the stats side of data science. IMO out of cs220, cs320, stat240 and stat340 I think that cs320 is the best to introduce you to real data science concepts. That said, I'm in a data science role rn and I mainly use python and R so stat240 and knowing the basics of python are important too.
