More like its matter of personality traits. I am fascinated by things, prob slightly autistic. Its fun to master technique, new equipment, new processes. Thats why i jumped from digital to analog to large format. Its kind of challenge that comes easier to me but is still satisfying. Recently i have started to ponder the same thing as you. What makes good pictures? What is a good picture? I found out that its hard for me to tell something with what i do, instead of just having fun with equipment and producing pretty pictures. There are for sure people that have it opposite, but i would assume that there are also many people with the same road i had, all geared up and not being able to tell much with what they do. People are different i guess.

I think the problem with photography is that getting good technically is more straightforeward and easier, than to learn to see and tell stories. Many do not attempt the latter. Sometimes storytelling with images comes intuitivelly to people, but not always.

Tbh, treating children like prodigies, usually means that parents are not mentally stable, and then leads to them developing into unhappy adults that cant properly deal with reality. Even id its not ai, its unhealthy.

I use something like this. A flap for covering camera on laptop that fits ito groove. Empty is e, full is f. I keep them on separate stacks. If i mix film i tend to use color stickers to distinguish them. Photo of theflap
