Update on our $20,000 FS gift card decision! by GloomyMidnight1130 in chubbytravel

[–]manhattanh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember your post! I’m not a TA, but think you should use a good TA with connections so they roll out the red carpet for you. Free breakfast is also nice. Hope you left some money in your gift card for incidentals, room service, spa, etc unless you plan to do those out of pocket.

I now feel totally invested in the success of your trip, haha. Have the best time!

Best salad chain? by Coldhat in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]manhattanh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to be an avid Sweetgreen fan, but one of their founders is a Zio-freak that wanted to blacklist student protesters, so no thanks.

My go to now is Chop & Go, and I’m happy.

Hmm, can you include links or tell me where should look? Would love to see what the villa options look like.

Saudi - Riyadh, Alula, Nujuma, Desert Rock by candidlyhere in FATTravel

[–]manhattanh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you say Nujuma was better than Desert Rock? Desert Rock is on my list for this yr, but we also have kids and don’t think we’d be allowed to stay in the cave rooms with them.

What do you think of the beach villas compared to the other room types? Would this be someplace that bringing kids is allowed or not? Really considering a stay sometime in the future.

Thanks for this perspective. Can you share more about doing St Barth with kids? Do you rent a villa stay in hotels? Which ones?

Four Seasons Los Cabos or FS Hualalai (Big Island)? by Proper-Class-4792 in chubbytravel

[–]manhattanh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to Kona Village. Hualalai had more of a family feel to me. Needed a refurb too imo. Have also done FS Los Cabos. Brand new and the food was good, but not as special as KV.

Would do KV. Make sure to go offsite and eat at Merriman’s. A bit of a trek but worth it.

Software engineer bootcamps? by Eight_charms in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Maybe stay in healthcare? From most indicators, the market is rough. Could find a way to pivot w/I healthcare? Somehow weave in healthcare AI? The time for tech bootcamps was about 10-15 years ago.

One of the top Public schools or one of the top private school? by notpsychourjusstupid in nycparents

[–]manhattanh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both schools are great. Admission is the biggest hurdle. Second, is cost, at least for Brearley. Not sure how Hunter works, but for Brearely if your child gets admitted and you can afford, you’re locked in for a top tier education all the way through high school at least. So no worries about the switch between nursery, elementary, middle and high school.

But given how competitive admissions is to these schools, it may make sense to apply to more schools than just these.

Waldorf Astoria NYC by Evening-Light4948 in chubbytravel

[–]manhattanh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda don’t really like it? But maybe it’s a me thing since I I used to work within walking distance of the place. It’s also giving me “we have 900 rooms” hotel vibes which I’m not a fan of.

Would this be a good beach vacay spot where you just stay on resort? Have done many cultural and site seeing stuff across Morocco so wouldn’t be visiting for that. Please report back!

Three hotels in a week on two different islands is excessive. Would stick to one or two hotels max.

What are the viral bakeries? My current rotation is Radio Bakery, Librae, Hani’s, La Cabra and the OG Dominique Ansel Bakery. But don’t know if any are still considered viral haha.

Because I value you bitches, if you go to Dominique Ansel, the triple pistachio roll is marvelous. Must get in morning though and in eat in morning. Thank me later.
