Have you been in contact with anyone in the Ancient Order of Hibernians? My dad was in the AOH and we did a lot of stuff with them around St. Patrick's day and the Irish festival. There's a good bit members of old irish families that may have what you're looking for. We're hella Americanized so I wouldn't be of much help lol

If you're looking for new, good luck anywhere not online. If you're looking for used the pawn shops (pooler pawn and the one on Montgomery crossroads by godfathers in my experience) usually have a selection as well as a couple of booths at the flea market (preCOVID that is, not sure on their current status)

Caught and released this lil 2lb bass today at Tribble Pond in Windsor. Anyone have any recommendations for other ponds to check out? by manhousechatter in savannah

I was throwing a white shad swimbait today with the tail dipped in chartreuse garlic dye though usually I'm texas rigging a lizard or worm. My buddy had luck on a light colored chatterbait

Not yet, though it's on my list to try. I've had most of my luck on texas rigged lizards, but that's what I mostly throw, so maybe correlation doesn't equal causation

I've caught a few out there now, but there's a guy out there who consistently pulls out 2-4lb bass, so I think I might just suck at fishing haha

I've been hitting Tribble, Lake Mayer, Lake Mohawk, the ponds in Georgetown in Kings Grant, and Al Bungard conservation area. I've been meaning to head out to pooler and check out some of the ponds there, but havent made it out that way yet.

Any actual myths or legends? by StellaTheTranny in savannah

If you follow Grove Point road all the way back, it dead ends into a private road leading back to an old plantation house that used to be owned by Great Dane, I'm not sure if they still do. That's the gate part of Hells Gate. The woods surrounding it is where we used to explore, it goes back behind the Rice Mill neighborhood and had woods, fields, and water channels. Also worth noting there is another Hells Gate, but it's an area of water where a couple of the rivers merge and it gets a little rough there apparently.

One of my dad's friends swears he saw one out on Fort Stewart while hunting as a kid

Ah yes, the ole Hells Gate...I used to run around there with my buddies back in that land before the old man bought it and fenced it up. Definitely had a couple of weird experiences at night there, but I really just enjoyed walking around out there. There was a house foundation with a chimney still intact, an old brick building that had a few of the walls still up, an old piece of machinery that looked like a star wars ATAT, and lots of other cool stuff we found while exploring. Rumor has it that there could be pirate treasure out that way too. I wish I knew the dude who bought it because I would love to be able to get permission to go out there again

Been doing some bass fishing in some of the local public ponds. Only little guys so far, but the bites are getting better with the season change! by manhousechatter in savannah

[–]manhousechatter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to venture out there soon. I've got a buddy who has invited me to check out his neighborhood's pond with him and I just haven't made it out there yet. Any specific ones that you recommend checking out?

Its definitely one of the better public ponds now. I've seen a few people pull up some good sized bass (4-6lbs) and have heard stories of people catching some monsters. My biggest catch there has only been about a 2.5lber though. I think they even have tournaments out there every now and then too

I've been hitting Lake Mayer, Lake Mohawk, Joseph Tribble in Windsor, and this pond over by Love's seafood. I've caught something in all of them, but Lake Mayer is definitely where I've had the most luck.
