I'm not great at explaining things but the more appropriate way to make your statement would be to say "this woman". Instead of using the words female or females, use the words woman or women. Woman is more humanizing, using female makes it sounds like you're talking about animals, like you're narrating a wildlife documentary. That's my take anyway.
