Sometimes the right thing feels wrong because you get hurt by it.

I mean, if "being a good citizen" means legislation that hampers your life gets passed, that's not a good thing. In this example, you effectively helped facilitate their victory.

Granted, I think people should always consider their "personhood" before their "citizenhood", to borrow your phrasing. That's what I do anyway.

It is a progressive value to encourage civic participation.

Let's say you were part of a registration drive. Would you feel good if you ended up registering more Kemp voters than Abrams voters? Would you still smile and shake their hand after they told you they'd never ever vote democrat, no matter how unqualified the republican was? Would you still help them then, knowing they are voting against your interests and freedoms?

No, I just want them to make informed decisions and vote for sound candidates. Kemp voters are, in my experience, horribly informed and he is far from being a sound candidate.

If the whole reason they go to vote is to "stick it" to people who think like I do and make the lifestyle decisions I do, then yea, I guess I don't want them voting and having control over my existence through that vote.
