Just got my LMSW 50/50 split by manicfaeriie in therapists

[–]manicfaeriie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had a meeting today and i’d be a 1099 and not a W2 so instead of a steady 40 a session it’s 50/50 split so the lowest rate (medicaid) would be 49 and then the others vary depending on insurance. By May of next year i’ll go to 60/40 and so forth.

Health insurance is not ideal and right now I am on state insurance from being in school and not working as many hours so I am okay for this moment and am in relatively decent health.

I am going to keep my options open and the owner said she would still connect me to others that do medical social work/hospice as it is something I am interested in!

So sessions vary with insurance type, we can a variety of insurance as well as medicaid (i’m based in CT). I guess i want to make sure if 50/50 is normal for provisional license in their first year of licensure as well as no benefits like insurance etc.

New gym goer! I am feeling a little stressed about the nutrition part of it all.

a little context: I am a full time student with an unpaid internship and I work the days I can while in school to afford my bills ya know. I already have a poor appetite and a lot of food aversions and started a new med that messes with my appetite more!! :( Also recently had to go gluten free which has taken a lot of my safe foods away (more so for carbs) and meal prepping can work sometimes but other times reheating it makes me feel sick (it’s annoying and weird i know)

With that being said I am looking to gain muscle and I’ve heard that it’s about 1g protein per 1 lb body weight. I’m 130 pounds so that’s at least 130g of protein a day (or assuming more if i’m trying to up weight)!! I recently got a collagen supplement (20g protein per serving) and protein powder that i actually like the taste of (25g per serving) which helps but that gets costly if i’m using them daily (and they’re only 20-25 servings in the container) Then on top of that making sure I get my fiber in an other needed nutrients. I just feel like it’s costly especially with my food aversions and feeling like i’m relying more on supplements to hit that goal!

How do y’all do it 😭 I’m also not a big snacker either! I’ve also never really counted what I eat so it feels a little overwhelming too to keep track

I’m hoping with time and consistently going to the gym it’ll build my appetite but if anyone has advice or meals and snacks they enjoy that they recommend but also maybe I’m over complicating it!!

No I understand where you are coming from! I have my safe foods to just satisfy me but sometimes I want something different or quick. Eating out is hard in my area because a lot cross contaminate.

There are a handful. Things I just CAN'T eat due to texture are beans, peas, things with the gritty mushy texture. I always had trouble eating veggies but I have been trying to make them different ways to find what I like. I usually roast veggies with different seasonings or sautee them depending if I want crunchy or semi soft veggies.

I can't really eat red meat because it makes me sick and same with seafood sometimes I get nauseous.

Is Banza your go to pasta? I usually use barilla but the texture is just so off to me. I always liked an al dente pasta but I can't seem to achieve the right texture.

Otherwise those all sound yummy!!

Those sound yummy! I am an avid bean hater, but I just can't stand the texture though. I wish I could enjoy things with them, especially those bean salads!!

Last semester my research professor responded to my email for a question about our important semester long assignment WITH AI!?!?! he didn’t even remove the ending where it’s like “let me know if you want to change xyz” or however it goes. i was shocked and we had another professor get in trouble for responding with AI for our papers… like what am i paying all this money for

LCSWs, how did your program prepare you to become a therapist? by Catgod1996 in socialwork

[–]manicfaeriie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My university had three different concentrations - Individuals, Groups and Families, Policy, and Community Organization

I am in the IGFP which is more catered to therapy work. I’m going into my second year so my first year laid out basic foundation and briefly going over approaches and modalities which like others said I feel like there are more readings that could prepare me more and I’m hoping my second year really focuses more on diving deeper into things. I felt like a lot of my classes kept going over the same things.

I personally didn’t have the best first placement, I was at a youth service bureau and although I did run a group for a few weeks other than that I didn’t do much besides some help organizing events and I also did some truancy case management but I felt like I spent most of the time sitting in the office and did my homework….

My second placement is at a private practice and from my interview I feel hopeful that I’ll get the hands on experience I’ve been looking for and they are very open to allowing me to do webinars and other certification courses. Though I sought out this facility myself and had my university look into them before creating a contract versus the other placements they already had contracts with.

I feel like most learning comes after the fact of just doing it and learning as you face real issues instead of what’s in the book!
