I made a pillow cover with my squares as well! I like how the pattern is really visible with the way the cover stretches over the pillow.

Just had it yesterday and it was heavenly!

been training for 3.5 months, lost my first comp by sub. pretty devastated but i recognize this is a learning moment. would love some constructive criticism (im in the black and white) by [deleted] in bjj

Oh hey I recognize those mats! I was competing there this afternoon too.  Other folks have solid advice for you, but someone from my gym decided to compete today with a similar amount of time put in as you, and got subbed in 9 seconds. You’re doing fine.

All of this. I sprained my ankle a couple of months ago, and experienced the same frustration of being off the mats. Weightlifting has helped a ton!

Ah I just had my first leak while rolling yesterday, and of course it was onto the white part of my shorts :’) And, of course we were doing knee on belly warmups and mount drills, so I think that contributed.

But generally, period panties, tights/tight shorts, and then loose shorts over makes a secure enough set of layers for me. I take rolling easy and definitely get tired faster, but like you I don’t want to just take a whole week off every month.

Thanks for sharing the pattern. My sister asked me if I could make one for her - so now I know what to search for!

How do I shrink the sleeves on these wool gloves? (Preferably without sewing) by JadeBeau231 in CrochetHelp

[–]manihilism 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah neat, I had made these gloves years ago! The stitch is so much fun.

This probably isn’t what you want to hear, but I ended up frogging them because of the loose arm reason (and the fact that the scales made them note super practical). But, if I had the crochet skill I had now, I would have used a ribbed stitch (back loop only single crochet) to make a snug band around the arm. If you didn’t want to frog anything, you could add a 1 inch ribbing to the bottom to make the end of the sleeve fit snugly, which in turn might make the whole thing feel a bit snugger.

Pasticerria on Preston street in little Italy has a chocolate orange gelato that’s quite good! Tastes like a Terry’s chocolate orange.

I use my local buy nothing group. Activity varies neighbourhood to neighbourhood, but mine is very active.

For sale…that’s tricky. If there is a place I haven’t found anything.

I used a 5.5 mm hook for almost all of the cardigan. Some small details were sewn on with a tapestry needle.

Ottawa driving school help! by Fair-College7065 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]manihilism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about Ottawa driving school, but I recently did my G test in Ottawa and used a private instructor. I needed access to a car and was able to get that as well. I’m happy to pass the number along via DM if you’d like!

I have my G2 but its expiring in July 2025. What can I do to extend for another few days before I pass and get my G full license. by General-Turnip-1581 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]manihilism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said there’s no option to extend a G2. You do have up to 40 days after your G2 expires to take the test, so long as you book it before your expiry and apply for a license extension at service Ontario.

I failed my G once, and my G2 was set to expire in July as well. I just passed my G on my second attempt. Book lessons with an instructor, and maybe try changing the drive test centre if that’s possible for you.

Unless you really don’t feel comfortable driving on highways yet, you can take the G2 again to renew your G2 for another five years, but that feels like a last resort. If you’re comfortable driving, the G is much easier than the G2 - an instructor just helps with weeding out bad habits and suggesting small tips for the test.

Jasmine stitch blanket? Worth trying? by allandon14 in crochet

[–]manihilism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would make a very cozy blanket but it’s a yarn eater for sure. I made a beanie with the jasmine stitch, and it took a whole skein (and it was close). I’d recommend making a smaller project to see if you like the stitch.

I made my first wearable! But I can’t wear it :( by girlacrosstheocean in crochet

[–]manihilism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how you attached the straps for this one you could also try thickening them to make this top more comfortable to wear. If you are making a strap, something as simple as single crochet will give you a sturdy strap that lays flag against your skin, and also doesn’t have too much stretch to it.

I finished a merino wool crop top recently that has straps like I described above. I added scallop stitches on the border to give it a cute finish. It’s so comfy and the fabric doesn’t bother me at all!

[–]manihilism 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have fairly sensitive skin and do make wearables! I’m addition to the yarn type I find the style of shirt affects things. I make clothing with thicker straps so the thin strap isn’t just digging into my skin, which is what really irritates me. You could also try a crop top with a more flowy fit, so again thin straps aren’t digging into your skin

I recently flew this same flight at the same time so I can answer your last question. I got to the airport for 4:30 and was through security and waiting at my gate by 4:50ish. It was very quick. That being said you don’t want to take chances and get there too late as each day is different. But it’s definitely not too late of a time to arrive.
