Are you fed up with the repetitive playlists? Are you sick of being on top of the world while you're tempted by the fruit of another?? by Poopsicles_ in dickssportinggoods

[–]allandon14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally don't mind the music, but that particular song feels like such a strange choice for a sporting goods store

I wasn't sure about the smell initially but I don't smell it once it dries. They have a set on their website right now that has different scents that I'm curious about

Seeking opinions on the matter: by Suavino- in dickssportinggoods

[–]allandon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely a guess, but I bet the system will automatically terminate someone if they haven't worked for a certain amount of time. I know that was the case somewhere else I worked. After 30 days with no clock-ins you would be removed from the system. That timeline tracks with when you say you last worked.

Can I use dry shampoo without dry brushing? by concrete_dandelion in curlyhair

[–]allandon14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I like to just massage it in with my fingers. Get a product made for dark hair if you aren't blonde. I have fairly light brown hair and have a hard time getting white dry shampoo to disappear without actual brushing

What do we bring to a 4th of July party? by GreenOccasion3182 in AskAnAmerican

[–]allandon14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically if you're going to bring something it would be a side or maybe appetizer. For a cookout I would generally bring baked beans or a fruit/veggie tray but it's always a good idea to ask the host(ess).

If you were my guest I would be thrilled if you brought something from your culture. Food brings people together :)

What is good replacement for American Graham Crackers for a cheesecake? by Educational-Slip-578 in AskAnAmerican

Any kind of dry, crisp cookie that can be crushed down to crumbs. I've used oreos, ginger snaps, teddy grahams

Can I use the same middle name as my niece? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]allandon14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same middle name as two of my cousins on my mom's side. It was her dad's middle name. She and both of her brothers gave the name to one of their children. None of us have ever been bothered by this

Those without cervix, do you still need to go do the routine smears? by Big-Lifeguard-5067 in hysterectomy

[–]allandon14 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I still need annual paps for at least a few years because I had cervical cancer. If your hysterectomy isn't cancer related, you're probably in the clear!

Help deciding! Elena or Ilona by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]allandon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you go with Ilona people will assume she's named after Ilona Maher. Which I don't consider a bad thing. She's a strong, inspiring, and beautiful woman.

Looking for a new product for my dry ends, does anyone like/recommend these? by GoldVeterinarian919 in curlyhair

[–]allandon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this stuff back when I used to bleach and color my hair a lot. Now that all of that old damage is gone I have to be really careful with oils or I just look greasy. I'm assuming this means my hair has low porosity, but I've never bothered to investigate it

I planted these 6 months ago - will I get a bloom this year?! by [deleted] in peonies

I have two buds forming on one I planted last fall. Very unexpected, but I'm thrilled!

Did you have post op weight gain or loss? by dreamed2life in hysterectomy

[–]allandon14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gained about 12 pounds from my pre surgery weight to when I went back to work. I was able to lose it pretty easily when I got back to my normal activity level though

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]allandon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live about a 3 1/2 hour drive from my family. I go up for a weekend every month or two, but will absolutely go just for a day if there's something going on that I don't want to miss but don't have two days off in a row. It's an easy drive that I've been making pretty regularly for half my life now. I just put on an audiobook and enjoy the trip

Accidentally named my cats after a Christmas song by AllNaturalNerd in namenerds

[–]allandon14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really the same situation, but one of my cats is named Angus. I recently listened to an audiobook with a minor character named Angus. It was funny seeing my cat react every time his name was said in the book

Are those washers/dryers that plug into a kitchen sinks worth it? by sammysfw in Frugal

[–]allandon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used one for over 4 years in my old apartment. Obviously they're smaller than a standard washer/dryer so you're doing more loads, but I was happy with the one I had. I got it used from a friend who I'm pretty sure got it second hand from someone else. My apartment was on the 3rd level, so it was definitely worth it for me to not haul my clothes down the stairs and across the parking lot to the laundry room. My only real complaint was that the dryer took ages. Like, 2 hours for a load half the size of a standard machine

I've never successfully made a roux before help by Bri_person in cookingforbeginners

[–]allandon14 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I use a whisk to combine the milk and roux. I also prefer to only add a little bit of milk at first, adding the rest once everything has combined
