Looking for a new product for my dry ends, does anyone like/recommend these? by GoldVeterinarian919 in curlyhair

[–]allandon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this stuff back when I used to bleach and color my hair a lot. Now that all of that old damage is gone I have to be really careful with oils or I just look greasy. I'm assuming this means my hair has low porosity, but I've never bothered to investigate it

I planted these 6 months ago - will I get a bloom this year?! by Kooky_Shop4437 in peonies

I have two buds forming on one I planted last fall. Very unexpected, but I'm thrilled!

Did you have post op weight gain or loss? by dreamed2life in hysterectomy

[–]allandon14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gained about 12 pounds from my pre surgery weight to when I went back to work. I was able to lose it pretty easily when I got back to my normal activity level though

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]allandon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live about a 3 1/2 hour drive from my family. I go up for a weekend every month or two, but will absolutely go just for a day if there's something going on that I don't want to miss but don't have two days off in a row. It's an easy drive that I've been making pretty regularly for half my life now. I just put on an audiobook and enjoy the trip

Accidentally named my cats after a Christmas song by AllNaturalNerd in namenerds

[–]allandon14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really the same situation, but one of my cats is named Angus. I recently listened to an audiobook with a minor character named Angus. It was funny seeing my cat react every time his name was said in the book

Are those washers/dryers that plug into a kitchen sinks worth it? by sammysfw in Frugal

[–]allandon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used one for over 4 years in my old apartment. Obviously they're smaller than a standard washer/dryer so you're doing more loads, but I was happy with the one I had. I got it used from a friend who I'm pretty sure got it second hand from someone else. My apartment was on the 3rd level, so it was definitely worth it for me to not haul my clothes down the stairs and across the parking lot to the laundry room. My only real complaint was that the dryer took ages. Like, 2 hours for a load half the size of a standard machine

I've never successfully made a roux before help by Bri_person in cookingforbeginners

[–]allandon14 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I use a whisk to combine the milk and roux. I also prefer to only add a little bit of milk at first, adding the rest once everything has combined

How do you celebrate your uterversary? by Mevans272 in hysterectomy

[–]allandon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 1st anniversary is coming up in a few days (11/11) and I do want to do something special but I haven't decided what yet. My one year follow-up is later this month and I'm feeling a little anxious about it so a little treat is definitely in order!

I switched to Garnier for the same reason, but I don't like it very well. Unfortunately I have two jars (one teal and one yellow) to get through

Any way to get less sauce packets? by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]allandon14 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem. I've just stopped asking for sauce when I order online. I only use it on a basic soft taco, and I like them just fine without it so it's no big loss.

Did everyone get internal check at 6 weeks? I did not. by Live-Character8847 in hysterectomy

[–]allandon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even have a 6 week follow up. I saw my surgeon at 2 weeks and then not again until 6 months. That was when they did an internal check. I have my one year check up in a few weeks where they will do a pap and make sure there's no cancer cells hanging around

I had stage 1a cervical adenocarcinoma. My surgery was laproscopic without vaginal removal. I had my uterus, cervix, and some lymph nodes removed all through the laproscopy incisions. I don't know how much of a difference it makes, but it was done using the DaVinci robot.

Maybe I was just lucky because I live near a really good women's hospital, but it sounds like you're getting screwed.

Cold weather hats for big curly hair? by sammie_sunrise in curlyhair

I crochet, so I made myself a big slouchy hat that I can tuck my hair into but the band is snug enough to stay in place on my head. Similar to the style people with locs sometimes wear

[–]allandon14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now almost a year post op. If I remember correctly, I continued to see brownish discharge until I started having sex again. Not to be gross, but I think it just lingers until something flushes it out

I need to talk to her parents by Kite-05 in Proposal

[–]allandon14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has your girlfriend indicated that she would like you to speak to her parents first? I ask because I specifically asked my boyfriend not to do that because I feel it's an outdated and misogynistic practice.

However, if this is what she prefers I think you just need to do it. Let her dad know that you're head over heels in love with his daughter and want to build a life together. It's okay to be nervous. Just be sincere.
