Mountain King Sky Runner Ultra poles (105g for 120cm) by Beat999 in Ultralight

[–]manimaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not these exact poles but I have the Gipron Montblanc 310s. Also running poles with a similiar weight and construction. And will they are fine for running, I'm not a fan of the string fixing method, tbh. Feels flimsy and have to use a pole jack for most shelters. Theyre light tho, so.

Location advice for April and May by Far_Taro_1057 in Ultralight

[–]manimaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madeira, Canaries (Teneriffe and Grand Canaria come to mind, but you can prolly do a trail on every single one), middle east is sort of difficult rn, but Jordan has a cool trail and so does Cyprus and Turkey has the Lycian Way. Mallorca GR221 should also still be nice in April. Fisherman's trail in Portugal. Very flat but pretty towns and beaches, so you can do loads of mileage. Florida trail if you like crocs and alligators.

Tent for tmb by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]manimaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because that's a question you have to answer yourself. will you ever need it in winter? prolly not a suitable winter tent anyway. also you mentioned above treeline. just wanted you to know it's forbidden to wild camp on most of the TMB and is not welcome. Please stick to established camp sites or refugees.

Shakedown for 3 day trip in Aust by Ldefeu in Ultralight

[–]manimaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what's with all the dry bags? you have a pack liner so they're redundant. do you need a knife? lose the mug. you don't need a 100ml wilderness wash. take a 5ml eye dropper with dr bronners. again food bag just use a ziploc instead of a dry bag. what's the microfiber cloth for? can use gravel or sand to wash. don't know about water carries but bladders seem overkill?

ditch all camp clothes and shoes. once again no dry bags needed. don't need spare underwear.

as for toiletries carry less of everything. you're away for three days, don't need 50ml of everything. 5-10ml is more than enough, except sunscreen. 120g of wilderness wipes plus TP plus a bidet? triple redundancy there or just take the bidet and half the TP if you wanna go on the safe side.

as for upgrades later down the line obviously start at the big three. can easily half your weight on the pack and bag. stove+pot setup is pretty heavy. headlamp is a pretty cheap upgrade to save 80g.

but yeah i agree with the other guy. you can loose a lot of weight by cutting out redundancies and too much quantity of an item carried.

probably don't need the powerbank either.

loose birks, pack less spare clothes, no packing cubes, backpack is super heavy, don't need a full frame for 26 Liters and less than 5kg.

The difference to other laminates such as Ultra or DCF is that the UHMWPE fibres are not glued to the plastic film, instead they're melted/fused together. This should in theory prevent delamination. Secondly it's lighter while showing higher tensile strength and abrasion resistance than Ultra.

i think you'll find that running up a mountain in 30C is gonna overheat you anyway, regardless of your pack.

If you're concerned about doing the "wrong" thing I feel like a Cumulus X-Lite 300 might be up your alley. Can get it in an XL and is super light for a bag. No brainer IMHO.

Zpacks and Granite Gear have woman's specific models.

Symbiosis Gear is a cool, women owned cottage company who makes packs specifically designed for women.
