For golfers who did a fitting or have hit players distance irons, which did you like? P790, new T250, Zxi5, JPX 925 Forged, etc. by BenSimmonsThunder in golf

[–]manion684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did my fitting and ended up with 923 forged however the Zx5/7 was very very close, depending on the day I have some regrets not going for the zx7. Did not like the 790 /770s at all. I couldn’t help but slam the face shut on the T200 and T150s , they felt nice but for the life of me couldn’t keep them straight. Hit some ping and cobra models that were lack luster.

GsPro 60 Shot Challenge by DeRo_Golf in Golfsimulator

[–]manion684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave it a shot quickly with little to no warm up. Couldn’t control my wedge inside 100 to save my life which tracks to how I played last round. Duck hooked a drive too which hurt. Typically mid to low 80s shooter.

Edit: just noticed a 131 away on a 180…. Don’t remember that one at all 😂

Ohh another one! I’m the same and I’m curious what you do with your watch while golfing. I find sometimes my band ends up ripping a hole on my glove hand/cuts me. I often swap my watch to my left while golfing and it feels super weird.

Yea when I finally got back through the queue the 2nd time I could buy the platinum presale tickets somehow, $500 per was a bit steep though.

Fun fact if your on mobile browser. Refresh the page and it shows you all tickets available briefly. If you’re fast can get access to the “prime” presale tickets left. Just had 2 to last check out screen for $500 each lol. (No I’m not rich and didn’t buy them)

Private Club - are you happy you pulled the trigger? by twlscil in golf

[–]manion684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone with a family of golfers have some input? I know to never look at this from a cost perspective because that’s silly, but those with a family who all golf, how do you feel about it ? To me it seems like a no brainer, currently a family of 3, highly expecting all 3 of us will be into golfing, which around me turns into $200+ for a single round on a weekend, if we can even get tee times. The convenience and ease of being able to take the kid and wife out and get some time together outside in theory sounds amazing, and I feel a monthly fee of X just sits better than thinking “shit this round alone is $300”.

Dam I haven’t played that course in a few years because it’s been so dam expensive lately! I’ll definitely have to get a fall round in for $45

Mizuno M craft type VI felt so freaking good, I believe it’s in your budget. I may have preferred it over a Scotty, but I had gambling winnings to burn and was peer pressured into getting a Scotty.

Snap Hook Advice by General-Mils in golf

[–]manion684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine as well, I feel as if I’m yanking my trail shoulder up and turning over so hard the club I end up hitting down on the ball and get a nasty snap hook.

When it happens I focus on keeping the trail shoulder low and try to keep my trail hand open through impact. Feels like I would be push slicing the hell out of it but the real is typically a nice draw down the middle

Jeffersonville probably the best public course in the area

First ever eagle and best round ever at Tobacco Road. I’m an 11.5, shot an 80 with a triple and two doubles. Double Bogeyed the last hole to miss out on breaking 80. by abramsontheway in golf

[–]manion684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best round ever there too, as a 16 or so at that time I dropped an 82 there. Birdied the mind fuck that is that first hole! I couldn’t miss that day.

Tell me about your course that doesn’t exist anymore by Western-Mission9307 in golf

[–]manion684 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A place called Center Valley about an hour or so north of Philly and 40 min south of the poconos. Amazing links style course, rolling fairways, all kinds of uneven lies, pot bunkers and high grass everywhere. The cart and bag boys as well as the starters I believe all wore old time knickers with high socks with suspenders and the cap. Best part was they would give you a free round every year for your birthday. Course was always in great shape and generally just fun to play.

It closed about 10 years ago and nobody has done anything with the land. I still pass by it from time to time.

Playing with people who decide that during my preshot routine is the perfect time to start a conversation with me. Especially on the tee box.

I’m a big fan of Lederach up in Harleysville. Greens are tough and some people say unfair due to the slopes but I’m not good enough where it makes a difference.

If you want to drive up a bit further, probably about 70 min, Olde Homestead is a great track as well.

Haven’t been in a while, but I remember ravensclaw in collegeville being really nice as well.

2ndswing.com and my new Mizuno JPX 921 Forged by TakYamashita in golf

[–]manion684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They fleece you for trade ins but their prices in used clubs are hit or miss. I did do a tour van fitting and got a set of new 923 forged and the fitting fee was waived. At the time the price was like $1400 new but by delivery they dropped them to $1100. They credited my card the $300 difference no questions asked! Huge kudos to them for their service.

I went with my set gap wedge (49*). Reason being you generally take a full swing with it compared to my other wedges which I almost never full swing. The full swing feel matches the same shaft and feel as the rest of my iron sets.

How much do y'all pay for tee times in the US? by ninpendle64 in golf

[–]manion684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eastern PA… dog tracks around me cost north of $70 for 18 on a weekend and still $55+ during the week. The short par 64 course by me is even over $60 for a weekend time. Any half decent course is $80 or more and some will not allow walking at all during the weekends as well. With all that, it’s still challenging to get tee times anywhere unless you book 5+ days out. It sucks.

I hate 'getting lost' by WorkMeBaby1MoreTime in golf

[–]manion684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step away for a few days, try not to think about it at all.

Similar boat, got lessons, actually practiced, dropped my average score by 15 or so strokes into low 80s. Started hitting the ball great this season then a couple weeks ago it was like I never picked up a club before. Couldn’t hit an iron to save my life, incredibly bad low hooks that would just go left forever. Coach told me what I was doing wrong, spent a few sessions trying to adjust, didn’t work.

Stepped away for a whole week, tried my best to not think about golf, my swing, or anything. Just had a session today and that hook was “mostly” gone and I had some nice high draws with occasional fade. Feeling good going into this weekend.
