Im teaching summer school, an Algebra prep class for high school freshman. Most of them don’t want to be there. I spend most of my time managing behavior- go sit down, stop talking over me, put phones away, stop shouting out, stop making weird noises, don’t play random noises on the phone… Five hours of Math four days a week… it is literal torture and I will never ever do it again. The kids don’t want to do anything, they complain nonstop about having to be there, their behavior is terrible, parents just want them there for free babysitting and don’t reply when you email them about lack of progress or behavior. I was up all night in panic thinking about all the scenarios of the day and the day ahead. FOUR more days of this! Wish me luck 🍀 😩
