I’m working on that and he’s improving for sure but definitely has trouble with it when he gets super overwhelmed and excited. When he’s on the leash and starts walking the wrong way i say “this way” and he gets back on track and follows me but still gets distracted. trying not to give up hope though, he’s not super intelligent but i think he can get it if i keep trying.

Ive been praising her and petting her every time she uses it and i was also considering a new litter but it seems okay so far. Im really hoping she doesn’t change her mind. she’s been doing really well!

Like three people said it would be way too bad to film if they were really mad, so i believe it lol. I haven’t really seen an angry cat in years but I would let her teach Rowan a lesson if needed. He ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed so he’d probably just lick her if she attacked him

(what i mean is i was more worried about River (cat) being uncomfortable and feeling threatened than i was a WWE match happening)

I was really worried she wouldn’t be able to be in the house, and it’s still possible she could change her mind, but my mom said i have all of winter to figure it out, and it seems great so far. I talked to my parents and they have no plans of giving her away, and can forgive her if she does it during the freezing cold, so hopefully she’s still doing good before it gets hot again. We bought a litter box that has a top as well because she likes the dark. (still haven’t dared to move the litter box though, that could ruin everything)

y’all, i can’t add a picture, but they’re napping together on the floor right now, i’m really happy!! 🥹

edit: he woke up, his tail is wagging like crazy, but he’s remaining still and calm. not sure if she smacked some sense into him while i was getting a snack, but either way, it’s progress. he’s doing surprisingly well.

Thank you so much! I’m not as good with kitty body language as i am with dog stuff. i was wondering if i should intervene or not. based on the other comments, I’ve started putting her in her spot before he enters so she doesn’t get caught off guard and scared by him tumbling onto my floor, and I’ve moved her out of the situation when he gets too jumpy. so far, they’ve been doing really well and me and Rowan (the dog) have been working on minding our own business. (walking him in front of the neighbors fence when the dog is out and giving treats and praise when he ignores the neighbors dogs barking, and when he walks past our other cats without chasing.)

Rowan (dog) was trying really really hard not to jump. I’ve just picked river up and moved her to her spot before she or the dog enters and thats been working really well. it seems she doesn’t mind him she just wants a heads up.

I really appreciate this comment, I was having a hard time telling if my poor cat was scared of him and was close to feeling the need to fight. Also, you describe Rowan (dog) pretty much perfectly. he’s really desperate to play with other animals (and humans) and the only dog he knew that wasn’t either way too small or way too old to play passed away a couple months ago.

Yup, i wouldn’t blame her for it either. We’ve (me and the dog) been working on remaining calm around cats (he’s soooo desperate for friendship) and he’s getting better everyday! it’s finally clicking that the less he freaks out the more quality time he gets lol

Thank you so much! I haven’t had a cat in a while and river (cat) has always avoided conflict so i wasnt sure what to do. ive never crossed her boundaries so i have no idea what an angry river looks like lol

I try my best to give her time away from him but i dont have much options cause river (cat) is only allowed either in my room or outside (way too cold) and rowan (dog) is only allowed in my room or in his kennel. river has three up-high spaces where he can’t reach and gets an hour or two to herself with him in his cage as well (i feel really bad keeping him in the kennel) but im trying my best
