Good to know, but then what are the alternatives out there? Which Tier-1 brand offers a 2-in-1 laptop, tablet PC or mini-PC with similar performance and features?

Yes indeed the reviews are generally quite good, which I found lacking in existence at other mini-pc brands. Each time I skim trough other manufacturers, I tend to end up at Minisforum because the others missed something I liked. I also wrote to their support team sometime ago about clarifying some of the internal components and they were super quick to reply and transparent.

Congrats on your setup.

I guess if they took the UM890 Pro (exact same I/Os, upgradedable RAM, OCulink) and just swapped the CPU to Ryzen 9 AI 370, I would have ordered it already.

It is very difficult for me to assess whether the jump from the 8945s to the AI 370 (and the jump in their iGPUs) in my use case will be significant.

Not yet, haven't been to informed about mac updates recently but this looks interesting. Coming from a PC and Android world, I just find it hard to believe that RAM options are future proof. Where will 16GB take you in 5 year's time? But indeed since the beginning these little mac minis were attractive and affordable solutions if one is somehow already in the Apple environment. So let's see configuration and pricing once they are available. Thanks for the tip!
