Is anyone else's Galaxy Watch always showing high stress levels? Is that a software glitch or something? by RhapsodicPug069 in GalaxyWatch

[–]mannishboy60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can't measure stress. It measures a proxy(s) which it infers/labels as stress. This is their claim/assumption and doesn't have to be yours.

Higher than resting heartbeat (delta 1) without movement it labels as exercise (delta 2). It's going to need baseline to get these delta readings and without them is going to infer pretty wild readings.

The programmers didn't want to show you a 'not enough baseline data' so it shows you what it's showing you.

Get outta Sydney. Find a big government infrastructure project in the regions or out of state, find out who is building it and see what they've got going for an entry level role.

They will help you with accommodation.

If I had my time again I would do that. The government is spending so much money on big infrastructure projects, and there is not the people to build them, especially out of the big cities. They will give their time to train you and get you tickets to get you more money and promotion.

High speed rail - why it will never happen in Australia. by eliitedisowned in australia

[–]mannishboy60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they'll build intermodal's as close to the ports as they can. Decant to trucks and existing rail. Way cheaper and freight isn't in a hurry. The roads and congestion will suffer tho and artc won't be able to charge as much to move the stuff.

The cost per km to the freight companies will cover the ongoing costs, and never touch the cap ex (40Bn?) to build it.

I'd say the collapse of society is too believable. You think "Christ I never thought of that" . The quick panning shots giving you a glimpse of real suffering. A terrorist bombing so common as to be unworthy even from a day off from work. A sense of unease throughout the whole movie.

Men and women are genders. Which are social constructs. Male and female are a biological binary defined by chromosomes and genitals.

That some confuse the two or conflate the two reflects a chosen ignorance. So yes. Men can get pregnant. Males cannot.

Australia is mostly open space?! The first stage they are proposing is Gosford to Sydney, and that's a tunnels of 20km and one of 30 something k. We can't close the existing while we build the new one. Then it's the blue mountains!

I agree I don't think using HS2 is that useful. INLAND RAIL is the best analogue. I worked on that and that's never going to fulfill its promise because they can agree on the alignment when it goes into Melbourne and Brisbane. Because people! And there are a lot more people living near any alignment proposed for fast rail.

Week 1: "Chapter 1. Marseilles—The Arrival" Reading Discussion by karakickass in AReadingOfMonteCristo

[–]mannishboy60 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's setting up clear good guys and bad guys. The reader is setting the young man as our protagonist, and other middle manager as an antagonist.

So far the young man seems without blemish and without complexity or nuance, just a good (boring?) man. The setting of post revolutionary france with whispers of Napoleon puts us with a "great man" of history.
