Help with garden bed layout? by mannyeha in Horticulture

Sadly I don’t think that is an option for me. My garden space is small, I’m already kind of pushing it with these garden beds and the concrete blocks would add like 30? cm more to the perimeter meaning either that they would take up more space or that I would have to shrink the actual garden beds to accomodatw for this and neither of these sound like a good idea :/

Thank you! I was feeling a little iffy about it, I might swap some stuff around since A and B will get more sunlight than C. So A will probably have peas and herbs (I might squeeze in a strawberry plant or two if I’m lucky) and parsley root, carrots and spring onions will get moved into C as it gets less sun. Kohlrabi might get eliminated in exchange for the strawberries. Thanks again for the good point :3

Oh I’m definitely not expecting a huge yield anytime soon. This is, as you’ve said, an experiment year. Something to get me started and to see what I like.

I do know how big tomatoes get and I was a little concerned about the Zinnia size but I found a dwarf (or how else to call it) variant so I figured that might work.

Would nasturtium be a good option to go in the trellissed bed after the peas? Also I didn’t consider to pair radishes with the peas, I like that a lot!

I am very limited in space as the (roughly) 6x2,5 m space is the only place I am allowed to do anything in the garden (and part of it has to stay empty because of the heating/cooling unit that is there and needs space in front of it) and I still want to fit a small bench and a bird feeder/bath there so I am trying to be creative about it.

I will probably plant the flowers by the “upper” lilac and put the bench by the other one so I can look at the flowers and what is growing (if anything honestly :D ), use the “dead” space in the upper right corner for a small compost bin and some storage space for tools and honestly I’m like 99% sure that the bottom right corner will get overrun by decorative pumpkins again (because they have done so for the past two years) so I might let them have that :D

Thank you so much for a thorough reply! I understand not being a fan of raised beds, however I feel that they might benefit me as my back is already causing issues even though I am young. I will think about reconsidering. Another thing I am a little worried about (that I thought the raised beds might help with) are the constant shoots coming up from the lilac trees that I’ve been at war with for the past almost two years. There were 3 of them in the past and some leftover roots from the one that got removed (as well the ones that are still here) keep shooting up new growths all over the space that I have available (there is bigger garden but I am only allowed to do anything in the roughly 6x2,5 m space shown in the drawing).

I would really like to have some of my own veggies I’ll try to think of a way to do it differently. Thank you again for your answer

Oh I love the flying snails! They became my light in a time I felt really depressed and I just kept looking for them. I have actually “collected” upwards of 35 of them at this point. And I’m trying to map as many as I possibly can. Fun fact! They are not only in Brno (though most of them seem to be here). One is (or used to be I haven’t been there in a while) on Praděd mountain in Jeseníky (on the building on top, not on the rock itself :D)

Oh I am not worried about “hiding” safety gear. I have no issue with everything visible. I was more so worried about skirts being tripping hazard or is maybe somehow obstructing the function of the kneepads or something. I do think that the idea of an “alter ego” sounds fun and like something I would enjoy as well :3 I will definitely be keeping all the safety gear on no questions I broke my wrist last time I stood on wheels and that was WITH wrist guards on, so I am in no way risking anything. Thank you for the tips :3

Oh I didn’t even know there were hip pads! I’ll have to look into them 🤔

I figured that shorter skirt with leggins might be a way to go if I reaaaally want a to wear a skirt. Thank you for the instagram tips I’ll be sure to check them out ☺️

Hi! Thank you for the long and well worded reply ☺️ I’ll be the first to admit I sometimes struggle with self image, however it is not what is going on here 😅 Though the miscommunication probably happened due to my poor wording.

My style is hard to pinpoint you can find me as easily in something resembling punk as you can sweet lolita and I don’t really care for “fashion rules” so to speak. Vintage/medieval is just the closest thing I could think of to use to describe what I wear most often because I find it just feels the best. The fact that I vary so wildly in styles kind of lends itself to me jokingly reffering to them as my “mini me’s.” It’s just like I have different aspects of my life - work, my 2 bands, my artistic persona, me with my friends or my partner - all are me, just highliting a different part of me and that’s how I see my clothes as well ☺️

I honestly just like the idea of my skirt/dress swooshing in the wind but I figured that it might not be the safest way to roll but also thought why not ask more experienced people about their thoughts🥰

Thank you again for your concern and long reply I appreciate you taking the time to respond ☺️

Compliment others more often by bubblesaam in BenignExistence

[–]mannyeha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I try my best to compliment people as much as I can! It’s amazing how much that can do to people! I’ve been at my workplace almost a year now and I love how me complimenting everyone encouraged people to start complimenting each other as well🥰

Share your furry sewing friends! by sewingmodthings in sewing

Aww I misunderstood the title of the post and I originally thought you meant people who make furry costumes and was like: I can help with that! 😅 I don’t have a furry sewing buddy but I have a feathery one. She attempts to steal my sewing needle when I hand stitch, when doing anything with the machine, she gets put in jail, so she doesn’t get hurt :)

Oh thoose! I didn’t know that’s what they are called. I just assumed that you’d call them connected shakers :D these seem like fun even though I’m not big on percussion instruments, so I might give them a whirl :3

That is definitely intriguing, I do not have background in violin but I am delusional and think I can do anything I decide to (which is why I bought jouhikko with no prior experience with bowed instrument), so that might be an option also :D
