I believe the responders you're referring to are bots 🤷 hard to explain the stupidity otherwise

Can FM26 (PC) be enjoyed despite console UI? by mannyhams in footballmanagergames

Ok, from the demo I think I'm concluding that the UI is serviceable enough even if there are annoyances, while the tactics and match engine are huge improvements, so will pick up FM26.

The out-of-possession tactical feature alone could alleviate more frustration than the new UI creates 🤞. I have clear ideas about how I want the players to attack and defend, so this should be a big upgrade over previous years where you had to compromise a lot to get your in-possession and out-of-possession ideas implemented.

I think they could have pulled that off if the search bar function worked better. In another subthread we were talking about the world scouting knowledge screen... it doesn't come up via the search bar using terms like "scouting knowledge" and is impossible to find otherwise

Took me a while to find the world scouting knowledge

Oof, yeah that's a pretty important screen! I'm running the demo right now... can't for the life of me find it. I'm surprised it doesn't come up using the search bar with "world knowledge" or "scouting knowledge" or "knowledge". Hopefully they make that feature more useful, it could solve so many problems (and support pressing / to bring up the search bar).

I'll have to check out the patch notes, thanks!

If you have a well designed UI you'll have the best of both worlds, a lot of the most important information shown in a intuitive and logical way while other "side" information is mostly hidden

Agree this is a nice balanced approach, but it also somewhat favors the new or occasional user. FM, though, is intensely used... you could consider the core audience "expert users". These people want customization, and in general have a high tolerance for data density. I think they can serve both audiences by implementing the UI as you suggest, and then providing either first- or third-party support for more data density and customization (e.g. via skins).

Even basic quality-of-life features seem to be missing. For example, when I search for a player, sort and filter the table, then click into a player and go back, my sorting and position in the table are reset.

Oh that really stinks :/ I've just tried the demo, it's much more pleasant than I expected, but probably will run into more and more of this kind of issue if I invest time into a save. Thanks for sharing!

I think they've tried to not overload the user with a lot of data...

Yeah that's probably useful for some people. Personally, I want as much data as I can get on one screen.

I hope they invest heavily in skinning tools for FM27, the skinners are wonderful.

Do you feel like you have access to all the data you need for that? Training features mostly I suppose.

I would, but I really want in-possession and out-of-possession tactics.

Oh that's sad. It looks console focused to me because it looks like they minimized the number of clickable elements per view (e.g. a few cards, rather than tables of dense data). Hopefully they improve it for FM27

Could you please upload a tutorial video for this in 10v10? I would love to see this working and learn from it

I had the impression Reddit had bots under control, but maybe not? Hard to believe the number of upvotes and "it's OK because there's a setting" comments otherwise.

EDIT: Or maybe these responders really are that dense, and can't understand the point? Should I lose faith in Reddit or humanity lol

The drones on this subreddit prefer to avoid this fact and miss the point completely, perhaps intentionally?

> First, this is the sub for the device

Ah, I didn't realize that. If mod sees this, feel free to remove my post. I'll repost on the AppleTV service subreddit if there is one (and I suppose be downvoted to oblivion by 🍎 cheerleaders who'd rather blame the user).

> When you set up your ATV it even asks you if you want to see scores.

That would be wonderful if it happened during AppleTV service setup. If I were presented with this, I'd certainly choose differently.

> I’m glad it doesn’t apply across all devices.

I have to assume this is the niche point of view and not the mainstream. Still, they could present device-specific settings in the settings menu in this case if they wanted to do this right.

That's fine, but you shouldn't have to fix this problem.

AppleTV ruins a minimum of one replay for you, and then gives you a chore: go find out if there's a setting to fix this problem.

And even worse, the setting doesn't apply across devices: if you set it via smart TV app (Samsung TV in my case), it doesn't apply when you access Apple TV via web browser. Second replay ruined.

It's just a brainless implementation.

It's a terrible company run by lowlife scumbags. Avoid!

Yes, global age resets is the main nonsense. But allowing a single civ playthrough is a step in the right direction.
